No. It says "shoulda drafted" indicating the statement was made post-draft.

So the Bears decided to rectify the situation by trading for him.

So you're saying Wanny traded for Mirer due to fan pressure?

I don't remember it that way, but whatever.

Just saw Brady's 22 million dollar fortress on TV. He lives in the Hollywood area. F' him and his model live-in whore. I hope the Giants kick their ass. I'm a Coughlin guy way over Bellechek.

Just a joke based in reality Midge.

Interesting, that you took issue with this.

Actually, most of you missed the joke.
During the ramp up to the 1993 draft, the talk was Bledsoe or Mirer, Mirer or Bledsoe...
Mirer went second to Bledsoe's first pick selection.
I was joking that they shoulda taken dat udder guy instead of dat Bledsoe jerk.
That plus I like to stick it to Notre Dame (where Mirer actually wasn't terribly good) from time to time.

I think the Bears selected Conway that year, so it was a good 1st round pick for the Bears.

I'm a fan of Quarterbacks....I became a De-Facto Bills and 49ers fan over the years. I think I can say the same with the Pats. The Brady rise was actually a pretty cool story anyway, and the team (Pats) is fun to watch.
I'm a fan. I hope they beat the shit out of the Giants. Fuck all things New York.

Rick Mirer was pretty good at ND for what their offense was. He wasn't really required to do much more than hand the ball off to Rocket Ismail, Ricky Watters, Lee Becton, Jerome Bettis, and Reggie Brooks anyway.
That being said, they'd throw the ball 20 times. He's complete about half of them and they'd win 9-11 games a season.

I just found it funny because its one of the few things the fans cried for that they eventually got

I think I've made it clear in the past that I am not a fan of "idiomatic" renderings of working class speech, which represent the thoughts and dialect of a few as indicative of many blue collar workers. In general, I find Bernstein's campaign against so-called meatballism to be a cultural class war waged against a "voiceless" proletariat for whom Bernstein speaks in his daily theater of the grotesque only so he can discredit that class.

I am lost in the labyrinth of self-referentiality that this thread has become.

I'm not much of a drinker, so both are basically the same to my pallet. If I did a blind taste test, I couldn't tell you the difference.
