I kinda agree. It's nice to have a coach who's an X's & O's mastermind (unlike Vinny), but the guy does need to sit down once in awhile. If your team is up 20, you don't need to be standing and hollering "Derrick!! Derrick!! Go! Ice! Jo! SWITCH!" Why does he even have a chair on the bench?

It just seems like anecdotal evidence points to yelly coaches "losing the team" more than the laid back ones.

I wouldn't call Thibs a yelly/screamy coach. He's definitely a micro-manager though. There are times when a coach should be up and barking orders. If it's a close game, or if he sees something he doesn't like, then by all means get up and start hollering. But he's on his feet the entire 48 minutes. Even in blowouts. He does need to dial it down on those occasions.

With Skiles the Bulls would always have a terrible circus trip and then turn it on after a slow start. Ironically, the team quit on him, Skiles get fired and the team missing the playoffs was the best thing that could ever have happened because the Bulls got Rose from the Lottery.

Basketball is different in that it's the one sport where the players can hear the coach from the court. What is different about Thibs is that while he yells during the game it's not because he is angry at the players or is trying to stick it to them, but that he wants their attention and he's instructing them from the sideline. I don't think Thibs throws his players under the bus or that there are problems with players not wanting to play for him. Does anyone remember Tim Thomas getting on Skiles' crap list? It seems like Skiles is the nasty general who players don't like.
