I thought the Madonna show could be called Super. Way over the top and it was great! I mean what the hell do you want? It's all about being over the top and it did the job.

it was more of a visual experience than an audio one. i was hoping she'd bring back "borderline" or one of her really old songs.

For a half time show, I thought it was pretty entertaining. Effects and dancers are great.

John Cougar got a tryout a few years back during the American League playoffs in Detroit where he played that god damn "this is our country" song that ended up being part of some truck marketing campaign. I thought Elaine Irwin was cool when I heard Cougar tell a story in a radio interview about writing "Small Town". He said he was working on that shit all morning and he came downstairs for something to eat. He asked his wife if she had heard any of it. She said yeah, so he asked what she thought of the song. Irwin said, "Well, John, I think it's pretty good, but it would be even better if you could somehow manage to say 'small town' a few more times in it."
