No one likes this guy. Everyone wants him fired every year. His players hate his guts... but he's got 2 Super Bowl rings making him one of the most successful coaches of all-time.

Way to tell everyone to go fuck themselves.

Better Giants coach than Parcells.

Based on what?

Parcells

77-49-1 2 Superbowls w/ Giants

172-130 Overall

Coughlin

74-54 2 Superbowls w/ Giants

142-114 Overall

My opinion and the fact that he seems to do it with much less self congratulation.

I'm not gonna comment on that without looking at the tape. I will say that we think we have a good poster here, we will look at the tape and go from there.

they actually have some similarities as far as what they inherited and where they took the team. what i prefer about coughlin is that he has no false illusions about what he is - a football coach. all he wants to do is continue coaching the new york giants. he doesnt want to be the GM, he doesnt want to be some high-level executive and have all the power and this and that and the other. the franchise stuck with him through some bad years, and he is sticking with this team until the end. Parcells started believing his own press about what a genius he was, when in reality what he was was a great football coach.

the man who deserves credit for this team is jerry reese. that is a guy who knows how to draft. all of his high-round draft choices are all starters and damn good ones. JPP, nicks, kenny phillips, kiwanuka, corey webster, aaron ross, bradshaw, manningham, and prince amukamara this year. the vast majority of this team are home-grown, only sprinkled with free agents. he got blasted for letting kevin boss and steve smith go, and for releasing shaun o'hara and rich seubert and it all worked out.

Boomer Esiason, who worked yesterday's Super Bowl XLVI on the Dial Global Radio Network with Kevin Harlan, James Lofton & Mark Malone, thought near the end of the regular season that Tom Coughlin was on borrowed time as the Giants' head coach and felt that Coughlin was as good as gone if "Big Blue" didn't make the NFL Playoffs.

I'll give Coughlin and the Giants their props for getting hot at the right time and it paid off with the Giants' 2nd Super Bowl title in 5 years. As for Eli Manning, I've always felt that he was "Rex Grossman with a Ring", given the comparable stats to Rex before Eli won his first Super Bowl title. Guess what? Eli's far and away better than Rex and is among the NFL's elite quarterbacks following the Giants' 21-17 win over the Patriots to win his 2nd Super Bowl ring.

So Coughlin is a better coach than Parcells was because he's more humble?

C'mon....Ray had "butter fingers" Joe Pisarcik. :P He groomed and drafted Phil Simms, did he not?

I was mainly referring to Hank using that as one of the main reasons for his opinion.

It is a meatball thought but whatever. I just think that he is every bit the coach that Parcells is but doesnt break his arms patting himself on the back about it.
