It's called a joke sir. Please try not to be humor-impaired.

Damn Ryan, you do like the show. They're reading an email of you defending Salisbury's draft position now. You and Dietrich can form a club.

Ha, don't confuse me for a Sean Salisbury supporter Dietrich. I just am so sick of some bringing this up when we are discussing his unprofessionalism at ESPN.

Ryan,
I don't think that it's unreasonable to think that if he was a better NFL player, he would have a little bit more credibility as an NFL analyst. I'm not saying that it's impossible for a bad NFL player to be a good NFL analyst, but it certainly appears as if the better radio/TV guys were solid NFL players.

I don't understand how this was brought up when discussing his unprofessionalism at ESPN. This thread was specifically about his playin career.

Ha, that was from yesterday when this whole arguement began. I just respect the fact that these guys made the NFL. I'm fair when I bash someone. Some people on here just bash to bash and can never be objectional at all. If anyone has listened to this particular show over the past year you would know many more times than not I call out Sean, he gets pissed at me and bitches and pouts.

Ryan it's a valid argument--I hear what you're saying about segregating the criticisms. He's not good as a broadcaster. I mean, I've never heard a radio broadcaster stutter as much as he does.

Wait a minute Zack, what about Jurko :) .

Am I the only one having a hard time following what Dietrich is trying to say. Doug hit the nail on the head with the Yoda reference.

Ryan,
It comes with the territory of being a public figure. People make jokes about celebrities all the time. People make fun of people all the time for being fat, but it doesn't have anything to with their job.

The cell phone art doesn't have to do with his job as an analyst either but it's still funny.

I don't think anyone believes that he sucks on the radio because he was an average NFL QB. If someone saying you weren't that good in the NFL is the worst insult he ever gets then he would be lucky.

Talk about this thread taking a wrong turn? Scott, I'm glad you brought this up. Let me counter those comments with this. Some of the greatest managers, coaches, and Sports analysts didn't fair so well in their professional league they played in. There have also been great, HOF players that have attempted to manage, coach, or be an analyst and completely suck at it. I'd almost venturse to say there is no corellation at all between someone who was a great player and how they ended up as a manager

This is turning into a pretty bad thread, but one of the most lively in this section in a while. Lemme just summarize by saying:

Salisbury = bad
Anyone Else = good

WR, I know you have always been critical of his radio career. Being good at something is a relative term. I will never be able to throw a football over the mountains like Sean could, but at the same time when I compare him to the good qb's in the NFL...he sucked. Every year there are players taken ahead of others in the draft that in the end showed they had no reason to be drafted there. I found it interesting that Sean thought he was to be drafted in the 3rd or 4rth round, but then wasn't drafted at all. Looking back maybe Sean was the third or fourth best QB from that year, but like you said its one of the worst QB drafts ever.

Rick, I agree with what you are saying. It's just when someone starts the rant about how he sucks at his job they finish with that statement as if "oh, then there's this too so it justifies what i'm saying." No, not really.

This is all moot. You guys know I hate Salisbury as a radio host in this city. We all agree on it. Let's move on.

How bout that J Hood?

So everybody in the NFL is a good football player just because they are in the NFL? I just don't think that's true. Many factors lead to a coach or organization cutting or not cutting a player.

I'll admit I can't stand Salisbury so it's hard for me to look at him objectively but I still think he sucked.

Although I like J Hood periodically, I think JD would have been a better fill-in today based on his coverage of the Bears and the NFL and him having his draft show tomorrow (unless he's preparing for the show as we speak).

I think sometimes it takes a while before some of the "bad" players are found out - see Quinn, Jonathon...

And some of them never get a real chance to show how if they're good or bad - see Sorgi, Jim...

Like I said, you and I are not going to agree on this at all so I'm done. Relative to everyone else in the NFL at the time Salisbury did suck. There. Now take a nap.

no. there's just no other way to explain my position. i'm not going to change your mind. you arent going to change my mind. I'd rather discuss why Harry can't help himself but go out on "business dinners" at Wrigleyville establishments until 11pm every other night.

I like J Hood, too.

"Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm." That's all I have to say about that.
