Nah, drove past it just about every day though. Never went to a Rockford Lightning game at the MetroCentre either, but I did a story on here about when I met Ronnie Fields, who played for the Lightning at the time, and he came into the Walmart I worked at (on East State) and told me to have this chick call him at his hotel nearby

The lots open two hours prior to game time and close one hour after the game. Comiskey Cash can be used to pay for White Sox parking.

When parking in the neighborhood around U.S. Cellular Field, we ask that all White Sox fans please observe all parking ordinances and respect our neighbors. We recommend that all fans driving to games park in official White Sox parking lots.

Can you drive to the Cubs game and park? Sure. Is it easier or cheaper to do this than it is a Sox game? No.

Thank you for answering my question Frank. That seems to indicate that there is no gameday general parking provided by the Cubs. There is general gameday parking provided by the Sox. Therefore, without question, there are more parking options at the Cell than Wrigley Field.

Well, when your "opponent" cites the fact that parking spaces exist near Wrigley even though any sane person would agree that it is a significantly different between the two stadiums you have to.

What does that have to do with anything? I was saying the number of transportation options was the same. Unless there is a helipad or a submarine route to the Cell. In that case, you win.

It's not cheaper. I pay less than $25 to park for the Cubs - even at the lots that aren't actually owned by the Cubs.

Anybody that pays more than that is too lazy to walk 2 blocks.

Gotcha. So you can drive to both stadiums then? Sounds like that is a check mark in each column, bring the tally for each stadium to..................one.

Go read what I said. I don't consider driving to Wrigley to be a valid option because the options are very small in terms of parking. Most people think that parking at Wrigley is not a realistic option including Cub fans like douchebag. Let me use an example to help. I will be driving into New York City this weekend. I don't consider parking on the street to be a realistic option. That doesn't mean that spots don't exist or that if I try really hard and get lucky that I can find one. I'll be using a parking garage.

I acknowledge that there are literally parking spots by Wrigley Field, and if you are going to play that card then you win. However, if you are arguing that parking at Wrigley is a realistic option for most people then I disagree because there just aren't that many spots available and to the best of my knowledge, the Cubs do not offer general parking at all, let alone enough to provide a realistic expectation that if I show up 40 minutes before the game that I'll be able to park and walk to the game.

Just don't ever complain that I take things to an extremely literal level because your argument here is that parking spots exist near Wrigley. Do you really think that when I initially said what I did that I thought that it was impossible for anyone to ever park within walking distance of Wrigley?

You're still wrong. I've been to hundreds and hundreds of games and driven to all but a few. A whole bunch of those have even been sell outs. I've never, ever missed a game because I spent the entire time driving around and around and around looking for a spot that didn't exist. The spots are there - they just aren't located in vast 1,000+ space lots.

I've also never, ever paid more than $25. I've also parked for free many times - on the street.

Next we can discuss all of the ways the Cell has copied many of the physical features of Wrigley in a failed attempt to make it more visually appealing. :D

Maybe one day the Cubs new ballpark can copy the act of hoisting a World Series Champions banner 8)

We've been thru that before too, spany. Coors Field, Camden yards, Safeco Field, Angels Stadium (whatever its called), Kaufmann Stadium among others all have greenery in the outfield and/or brick facades.

I've also been to hundreds of Cubs games and maybe once used public transportation. Always able to find a spot within blocks and for around $20. I never bought a parking pass in advance.

I also like the fact that the lots are smaller, therefor, i'm not waiting as long to get out.

From there, there's traffic on Addison, but once you get to LSD (if that's the way you're taking), it's usually pretty smooth.

I just never understood the whole nightmare to get to Wrigley Field argument. Yes, if you are driving, it's bad. But you are an idiot if you drive to that park. You can take the Metra downtown and hop on the CTA for much cheaper. You can park at many locations (some even free), and hop on the CTA and get to the game for little cost. Why drop $40, when there are multiple options to get you there quicker and much cheaper?
How can you not understand that it's convenient to be able to park and walk to the game?

I'm sorry you don't understand the benefits of public transportation in highly populated areas.

Personally, I wouldn't take public transportation even if it was free. They would have to pay me to take a bus or train. I'll take a limo instead.

Kane County Cougars games are great. Its 10 minutes from my house, the food is great, parking is free.

Yeah, the great unwashed masses on the Union Pacific West Line must be so awful.

I can think of surgical procedures I would rather undergo than have to drive in the city. I hate driving, especially downtown. I'm too neurotic to handle it.

i went to a rockford foresters game this summer with the kids and had a lot of fun, but i have to say that was one fucked up ballpark. i have never seen a field where the light poles are in the front row of seats, in front of the stands, instead of behind the last row. it was terribly distracting having those posts in the way of the action. on top of that, one how bank of lights wasnt working, so there was this huge dark void out in right center field. it was cheap, the kids had fun and we had a lot of laughs, but that place is a dump.

Thanks. I never knew how easy it was to just park at Wrigley and walk right into the game. Why do you think the park has gotten such a bad rap for lack of parking options? Pretty much everyone I've ever known to go to a Cubs game has said that it's not easy.

In fact, your experience actually seems like it's better than what I've dealt with going to White Sox games because I've gotten there a few times close to gametime and had to park further than than 2 blocks away. I guess it's easier to park at Wrigley than it is the Cell too because you are describing an ideal parking situation that you've done hundreds of times without any issue. When someone asks me the best way to get to Wrigley I'll just tell them to drive to the stadium and they'll easily find close parking. Thanks bosco!

I'm not sure of any way that you can get 35,000+ people to enter and depart a location at the same time and not have it be a vexing and unpleasant experience, unless Comiskey allows you to teleport to games. I wouldn't know for sure; I've never been there. But even the best-facilitated option, whatever that may be, is going to be stressful and inconvenient. I think we can all agree, though, that nothing would be more stressful and inconvenient than trying to get out of Dan Bernstein's ItasCub Fantasyland with anything so much as resembling the extant infrastructure.

But yeah, everything sucks. I mean, I can't get out of a parking garage in Naperville without hating life. Can't imagine leaving a ballgame.
