Report: Yankees and Pirates in agreement on Burnett trade
By Mike Axisa
2:04pm: Via Joel Sherman and Dejan Kovacevic, the deal is complete, pending physicals and MLB’s approval. The Pirates will pay Piece of Garbage Burnett $5M this season and $8M next season. The Yankees will get 25-year-old right-hander Diego Moreno plus another unknown prospect. You can read more about Moreno at Pirates Prospects. We’ll have more soon.
12:54pm: Via Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees and Pirates are in agreement on a trade sending Piece of Garbage A.J. Burnett to Pittsburgh. The Pirates will pay $13M of the $33M left on his deal, and the Yankees will received two low-level minor leaguers in return. The trade is pending approval from the commissioner’s office.

This is a GLORIOUS day!

Smiley face.

I was wondering what you thought yesterday when it was learned that he declined a trade to Anaheim, but then the Pittsburgh talk heated up.

I am definitely going to go to Wrigley Field this year to heckle Piece of Garbage A.J. Burnett. I would buy beer for anybody and everybody that day, even Spanky! It will be like Christmas for a small child, or Hannakuh for a jewish person.

Further details to be announced when determined.

If The Glorious New York Yankees get this close to unloading Piece of Garbage A.J. Burnett, and then he fails the physical, I would probably turn atheist from the shock and grief. Just kidding. Everything happens for a reason.

I'm bumping this thread and making sure I get free beer those days. Tickets may be hard to come by though since the Cubs will be in the middle of a heated pennant race.

There will be plenty of tickets available because the Cubs will have clinched a playoff spot by early July

One of Walter's special balloons?

Why the fuck would he decline a trade to LA but accept a trade to Pittsburgh?

Yes, his wife (who is probably his cousin) does not like to fly.

Plus, he is really, really, really, really, really, really, really stupid! He is a mental midget, a ninny, a blockhead, a dunce, a bonehead, a cretin, a dimwit, a dumbbell, a fool, an ignoramus, an genius, a jerk, a moron, a muttonhead, a nincompoop, a ninny, a nitwit, a pinhead, and a simpleton.

Additionally, he is an Arkansas hayseed, hillbilly, rube, clodhopper, and country bumpkin. He is the black sheep of Arkansas!

Finally, he is a thief! I have never hated a person who wore that Glorious uniform more than I hated this waste of a life.

SR86 is a man of his word. If he says he will buy you a beer, he will pick a designated spot to meet at the top of the third (3rd) inning and give you a cold, frosty beverage.

Then he'll buy you a beer.
what?

All the more reason to accept a trade to LA.

Apparently this move was made not only to get rid of Burnett....but also his body weight as PinstripeForce1 engineers were concerned over adding the 28O lbs for Pineda. With him and CC this rotation is bigger than the left side of most offensive lines.

Thank the risen Christ that Bud Selig has approved the deal!

"A.J. Burnett is a solid (No!) veteran starting pitcher (Yes) with an above average pitch repertoire (Not any more) and potential to provide us with significant quality innings (No!) from our starting rotation," Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said in a statement released by the team.

"I think he's looking forward to the opportunity to re-establish himself and mentor some of the young pitchers (May The Almighty God have mercy on their souls)," said Burnett's agent, Darek Braunecker.

I am as giddy as a schoolboy on the last day of classes! I cannot stop laughing and guffawing out loud!
