By Pat McNeill, PWTorch columnist

Wake the pets and call the neighbors, it's time for our exclusive WWE pay-per-view projections!

DISCLAIMER: Projections are based on what the columnist would do if he were booking this event, instead of The Cerebral C.O.O., Stephanie "Triple Mom" Levesque and WWE President "Cranky" Vince McMahon. Projections are not predictions, because anything can happen in WWE, except for wrestlers who debuted after the year 2000 getting over. This preview has been sealed in a mayonnaise jar on Funk & Wagnall's porch since noon today. Some of our departing contestants will receive a supply of JR's Original Bar-B-Q Sauce. This sweet, succulent sauce is great for grilling, on ribs, or even on burgers. Not approved as a floor wax or as a cure for male pattern baldness. Visit JRsbarbq.com for details. Remember, this is only an exhibition. This is not a competition. Please, please, no wagering. This lineup is based on the best available information as of this writing. These predictions are based on what the columnist would do if he had creative control over WWE, except for the part where Michael Cole is sent to FCW for re-education.

Many of you are anxious to discuss the last half-hour of Raw, where John Cena and Eve Torres broke poor Zack Ryder's heart by kissing in front of the Long Island Iced Z. The kiss capped off one of the dumbest segments on Raw in years. Most everyone thinks that Cena came off as the bad guy in that deal. Well, everyone except Batpoop Crazy WWE Booker Vince McMahon. ("No, women throw themselves at me like that all the time!") With any luck, Zack Ryder will return after WrestleMania to feud with John Cena, picking up the slack left when The Rock leaves.

The other big issue for the week is that WWE and/or DirecTV raised the price for bars to show WWE pay-per-views, and a couple of sports bar chains (including one here in central Virginia) have decided to stop hosting WWE Blast Areas. So if you were planning to catch the Elimination Chamber at your favorite watering hole Sunday night, you might want to call ahead. Thanks for ruining my gimmick, y'all.

We'll probably get a fifth match added to this show. If I had to make a guess, I'd go with WWE Tag Team Champions Primo & Epico Colon (w/ Rosa Mendes) defeating the makeshift team of Tyson Kidd & Ted DiBiase.

Beth Phoenix vs. Tamina Snuka (WWE Divas Title Match): Beth has held the Divas Title for months now, and Ms. Snuka is the most formidable threat she's faced in a while. A lot depends on whether Kharma will be ready to take on Ms. Phoenix at WrestleMania. I'm guessing she will be. Projection? Tamina hits the Super Splash and captures the Divas title. There's enough time for Beth to win it back before April, and we're going to need at least one more happy ending tonight.

Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Wade Barrett vs. Big Show vs. The Great Khali vs. Santino Marella (Smackdown World Heavyweight Title - Elimination Chamber): One theory is that Santino will get knocked out before the match and replaced by someone else. There's a problem with that theory. Who does WWE have ready to replace Santino? Not so easy, is it? Projection? Daniel Bryan makes Santino tap with the LeBell Lock. Big Show pins Rhodes after hitting the WMD. Big Show pins Barrett after a chokeslam. Mark Henry breaks into the Chamber to come after Big Show. Daniel Bryan uses the distraction to choke out Big Show with one of the chains inside the Chamber, then pins Show (again). Henry beats up Khali before security hauls Henry out. Bryan pins the unconscious Khali for the victory, and keeps the Smackdown title.

C.M. Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. R-Truth vs. Mike Mizanin vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho (Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Title): Do the other four wrestlers need to be there? Projection? Miz pins Kofi with the Skull Crushing Finale. Truth pins Miz (again) with the Lie Detector. Ziggler eliminates Truth with the Zig Zag. Punk beats Dolph with the Go To Sleep. Jericho surprises Punk with the Codebreaker and wins the WWE title (again.)

John Cena vs. Kane (Ambulance Match): No, really. This is the main event. The trick, though, is to find a finish that Cena fans can enjoy and Cena haters can loathe. Fortunately, there is such a finish. Projection? The two men brawl all over the building (naturally). Cena survives everything Kane can throw at him, then hits the Attitude Adjustment on Kane on the stage. Cena then duct tapes Kane to a handy nearby stretcher, enabling him to roll the Big Red Duct-Taped Monster into the ambulance for the victory. That seems very PG to me.

Aftermath: WrestleMania's on, with Rock vs. Cena, Triple H vs. Undertaker, Punk vs. Jericho, Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus, Shaq vs. Big Show, and maybe a few other items.

This projection is a perfect example of the "Internet Wrestling Community." He specifically says this is how I would book it. Beth Pheonix is coming out saying she's the best in the world. So you have her lose to Tamina, who has no response at all. I know it's a small thing, but it goes to RFDC's point. If you say it sucks, come up with something better.

I rarely do predictions, because they don't know who's going to win yet. But I would watch the Santino roll in the Smackdown chamber. That could be a surprise wild card that wins the match.

-- The official Twitter feed of Chris Jericho's heavy metal band Fozzy stated Friday, "Just got confirmation for some HUGE gigs this summer!!!! Stay tuned friends.."

-- The official Twitter feed for Raw Interim General Manager and WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis says he will making a huge announcement tomorrow night at Elimination Chamber.

The statement reads, "FYI: I plan to make a HUGE announcement at Elimination #Chamber tomorrow. It might stop the show, and will certainly be a Game changer."

PWTorch Roundtable Question - Should WWE make changes to their February PPV in-between the Rumble and WrestleMania? Or, should WWE keep the Elimination Chamber PPV the way it is?

By Ben Tucker, PWTorch TV specialist

I don't see any reason to have a February pay-per-view, and each year it continues to seem like it just gets in the way of things. If anything, I'd rather have it be replaced by a three-hour Raw (which would be equivalent to one of the "event" Impacts that happen every few months), or maybe a lower-priced WrestleMania Rewind show, which would have various wrestlers come back for one-night-only to have WrestleMania re-matches.

While Elimination Chamber can be one of the more entertaining shows of the year (like in 2011), it always seems like it gets lost in the shuffle. Look at this year's show, with only four matches advertised (one of which is a Divas match)! (Questions or comments? Follow Tucker on Twitter at BTuckertorch, or e-mail btuckertorch@aol.com .)

Justin James, PWTorch contributor

I think that the Elimination Chamber is awesome the way it is! Chamber has really impressed me over the last few years, because it has enough participants to have that “anything can happen!” feel like the Rumble, but the format keeps the in-ring body count low enough for the action to really flow. It also gives some mid-card talent the chance to really shine - C.M. Punk and Drew McIntyre last year are excellent examples.

Last year’s Chamber was a great example of what the match can be like: exciting, unpredictable, and have a major impact on WrestleMania. In fact, the Chamber is probably more important to Mania than the Rumble, due to it having two titles on the line. The format also allows for some clever tricks, like Shawn Michaels hiding under the ring two years ago, or Edge taking out Kofi Kingston and sliding into a pod three years ago to insert himself into the match. And, the match is usually brutal to watch, at the level of Money in the Bank or TLC.

I think that the Rumble is a good way to kick off ‘Mania season and the Chamber is the perfect PPV to lead into it, too. The only change they need to make is to bump the Rumble up a week or two to give the cable bill some breathing room. (Read James's weekly reviews of NXT and Superstars.)

Shane McKinley, PWTorch Absurdity specialist

WWE should only make changes to their Elimination Chamber PPV if it's no longer profitable. Sure, no fan is really happy that Daniel Bryan has to face the likes of ... Santino (what the...?) in that World Championship Elimination Chamber match. But, it seems WWE is content with how their PPV business is run: undercooked hype for some gimmicky themed PPV that only has four matches announced. Truth be told, I don't think WWE writers know how to build for a PPV (even WrestleMania) any more. Let's say WWE cut the February PPV this year. There would be just as many slow spots and stalling on the road to WrestleMania. All I can remember this month is John Cena tweeting about tampons way too much. ("My Mangina's so big, Rock! Bigger than yours!")

I hope WWE knows that when many people check out a WWE PPV, they're putting blind faith in WWE to give them their money's worth. Last month's Royal Rumble was definitely not my money's worth. A PPV should take place to resolve key issues, to settle a score, to answer a question. I don't know why the Elimination Chamber PPV this year is taking place. Certainly bigger and better stuff has been shown (and will be shown) on free television. I say don't drop it, because I still like the concept and it can deliver, but if the sucker ain't truly making money and WWE is going with lame-ass build like this, then off with its head. I just want some other feeling than embarrassment when thinking about this PPV coming up. (Read McKinley's regular Absurdity of it All column covering WWE and TNA topics.)

By Nathan Kyght, PWTorch PPV specialist

I've always found the "Elimination Chamber" pay-per-view to be a little odd; not only does it require fans to spend another $50-ish pre-WrestleMania (and that show is always slightly more expensive), but it somewhat negates the Royal Rumble. Whereas, once the Rumble match was where a Superstar 'punched his ticket' to the main event, now it's just a match where the winner sits back and has to wait for the February show to play out in order to make an announcement. And, the Chamber matches themselves are now seemingly the "true" precursors to 'Mania.

Personally, I think that WWE already does too many pay-per-view events and the effect is essentially watering down the overall product. In some cases, these "special" shows happen several times in a matter of weeks, so I would be in favor of cutting back, and I think WWE would benefit with more time to tell stories leading in and truly make the fans feel that something is "must-see."

In my opinion, the Elimination Chamber idea is good, and it certainly comes across as a spectacle on television, so I don't think the theme should be given up on, but I do think that doing away with a February pay-per-view event would be a great idea. After the Rumble, take your time. Allow every match at WrestleMania to be built as if it were the main event, and really create the "WrestleMania feel" that WWE always at least attempts to do. They don't play the Super Bowl twice, y'know? (Read Kyght's PPV Evaluation column after every major PPV, including Sunday's Elimination Chamber.))

Mike Cupach, PWTorch contributor

No, I don’t think that WWE needs to change their February pay-per-view. In my opinion, it works pretty well hyping WrestleMania. In the past, the February PPVs were skippable and had very little impact on the scope of WrestleMania. With the Elimination Chamber, it is one last "out" to creatively set up the card that Vince McMahon wants for WrestleMania. As a result, it becomes a must-see show that has as much impact as the Royal Rumble for Mania. Also, I think it is a good, established gimmick PPV that can hold the audience and keep them interested in the product while things bridge from the Rumble to Mania.

But, if I were to re-work what happens in February, I would have the show be a Saturday Night's Main Event that is free to everyone and would be a major hype job/preview show for WrestleMania. I think a good example was a SNME episode in 2006 that had Shawn Michaels vs. Shane McMahon in a Hardcore Match, World Title and WWE Title wrestlers paired up in teams, and various interview segments featuring wrestlers who were going to have Mania matches. For example, this year, I would have C.M. Punk and Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan, a Piper's Pit with The Rock and John Cena as the guests, a Divas Battle Royal (or something for the number one contender spot for Beth Phoenix's Title and have Kharma be a surprise entrant), and have a few other matches to feature names like Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, etc. (Read Cupach's alt. perspective review of WWE Smackdown each week.)

- As noted before, John Laurinaitis is teasing a huge announcement for tonight's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Regarding the announcement, WWE's website wrote the following:

"What could Laurinaitis possibly have in store? Although there are a few clues in the tweet, whether they can be trusted is anyone’s guess since the wily GM has been known to throw people off the scent. Is he finally prepared to slip on his Technicolor tights and face off against WWE Champion CM Punk? Will he announce that the Board of Directors has named him permanent Raw GM? Will Triple H be there to finish the business of wishing Laurinaitis the best in his future endeavors? Or will The Showstopper, Shawn Michaels, make an surprise appearance at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center?"

For what it's worth, Shawn Michaels wrote on Twitter that he would not be in Milwaukee tonight for the Chamber pay-per-view.

On Twitter Saturday, WWE wrestler Christian teased a potential return at the Elimination Chamber PPV Sunday in Milwaukee. Christian, who has been relatively quiet on Twitter during his injury recovery period, tweeted a picture of a postcard reading "Love from Milwaukee." With Smackdown's Elimination Chamber match in flux the past week after Randy Orton was removed and Santino took Orton's spot, Christian has been subject to speculation as a potential replacement. Adding fuel to the speculation is WWE's official Twitter account re-tweeting Christian's postcard.

Straight Shoot: The Problem With Elimination Chamber
Does Elimination Chamber steal Wrestlemania's thunder? Does it kill Sheamus's momentum going into title contention? Aubrey Sitterson breaks down Sunday's PPV in his latest Straight Shoot column.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Aubrey Sitterson February 17, 2012

Welcome back to Straight Shoot. If you haven’t already, catch up on this week’s Raw with our weekly WWE Monday Night Raw recaps. Then follow writer Aubrey Sitterson on Twitter and make sure to check back every Thursday afternoon for a new Straight Shoot.

Outside of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, which is traditionally 15 or 20 minutes of unhinged insanity, the Elimination Chamber might just be my favorite gimmick match. Six different wrestlers, no count-outs or disqualifications, suspenseful staggered entrances and perhaps most excitingly, elimination style rules, so none of that “Lost without getting pinned nonsense.” If you throw a humongous ladder in there, you might just have the perfect half hour of entertainment. Considering all that, you might just think that I’d be pretty excited for this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, which features not one, but two EC matches. Unfortunately, while I’m sure I’ll enjoy the living bejeezus out of the matches themselves, the actual concept of the pay-per-view exhibits some serious problems.

A few years back, WWE started to change the way they approach their pay-per-view schedule. Just as shows like Royal Rumble or Survivor Series have as their focal point specific, signature contests or match types, the promotion began putting on other events like TLC, Money in the Bank and of course, Elimination Chamber. On the surface, this sounds like a great idea: Like Tables, Ladders and Chairs Matches? Then order TLC and you’ll get to see a TLC Match, a Tables Match, a Ladders Match and even the chance to look on as WWE tries to figure out how the balls to put on a Chairs Match. However, this is also the source of my first problem with the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

How many of these do you need in a single night?

By making a pay-per-view specifically about the Elimination Chamber Match WWE locks itself into having two of them each time out – one for each brand. While 100% more muscley dudes is something I’ll never turn down, doubling the workers required makes it harder to book each match as a major event. The sad fact of the matter is that with Undertaker and Triple H indisposed, John Cena and Kane scheduled in their own match and Christian, Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry and now Randy Orton all injured, there just aren’t enough guys to fill all those plexiglass boxes.

Elimination Chamber wasn’t the start of WWE doubling up on EC Matches, as they used to take a similar approach to booking No Way Out, but just because you’ve done it before doesn’t make it a smart idea, especially with a roster that while full of promising future stars, remains a little light on main eventers. I love Cody Rhodes, but wouldn’t he be better used as part of his own Intercontinental Title Match? I think Kofi has a lot of potential, but does anyone think he has any chance of coming out of the Elimination Chamber as the WWE Champion? The current WWE roster is so depleted that the SmackDown Elimination Chamber will be holding both Santino Marella and The Great Khali, a guy who never really set the world on fire even before he took several months off.

One pod, one wrestler, one handpuppet.

It’s true that the Royal Rumble match has more than twice as many participants than both Elimination Chamber matches combined, but a 30-man over-the-top-rope Battle Royal with a large amount of joke or novelty entrants is a far different beast than a single match where any participant could conceivably walk out a world champion. It can be tough finding enough credible contenders for a single six-man match, but stacking the deck for two is far, far more difficult.

But even if WWE had a dozen main event-level guys to enter the chamber on Sunday night, having two Elimination Chamber matches on a single night poses another problem: It’s overkill. One Elimination Chamber Match is great, but a second is just too much of a good thing, as it makes neither one appear that special, brutal or dramatic, and one almost always ends up suffering by comparison. It also poses a problem when arranging the pay-per-view’s card, as you wouldn’t want to have the two matches back-to-back, but in order to separate them, one must come near the beginning of the night, which gives the perception at least, that the match is somehow less important than the Divas or Tag Team Title match that will most likely follow it.

Will this get better billing than a World Title Match?

Additionally, by having Elimination Chamber occupy a permanent spot on the calendar, the match no longer comes about as an organic part of storylines. This is a larger problem with events like Hell in a Cell, where the signature match-type is typically used to bring major, particularly heated feuds to an end, but it still causes concern in the case of Elimination Chamber, since WWE, like it has this year, can easily find itself locked into a pair of Elimination Chamber matches when they have neither the available talent nor the appropriate storylines to justify them. Instead, WWE must build toward this pay-per-view regardless of where anything else in the company stands, which would be tough in any circumstance for a company that generally prefers to fly by the seat of its pants. But given Elimination Chamber’s position on the calendar, the appropriate build becomes even more difficult to achieve.

Elimination Chamber is held in between Royal Rumble in January and WrestleMania in late-March/early-April, sandwiched in between two of WWE’s three biggest pay-per-views. What’s needed here is a palate-cleanser, like one of WWE’s remaining vague pay-per-view events like Over the Limit or Vengeance, which could be easily used to tee up or further whatever matches the company is planning for WrestleMania. Instead, WWE has to book another major pay-per-view with a complicated build-up and lead-in, which delays most serious talk about WrestleMania until after Elimination Chamber.

Cena vs. Rock and...?

What makes the scheduling of Elimination Chamber even worse, however, is the nature of the event itself. Presumably, any title in WWE could change hands at any time – even on house shows if you’re talking about the tag team belts – but there are usually specific wrestlers who are considered to be in the title picture, possibly with some wildcards in the form of Money in the Bank winners. That means that Title Matches for WrestleMania, the biggest pay-per-view of the year, could start being built a couple months out, or at least have some groundwork laid.

By placing Elimination Chamber in the schedule right before WrestleMania, however, WWE plunks a sizable fly into the ointment, as for all we know, the promotion’s top titles could end up being defended on the Grandest Stage of Them All by R-Truth and Santino Marella, respectively. Unpredictability is good, but scheduling Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania one right after the other leads to a far too-packed first quarter, especially when Elimination Chamber could easily be used to shake things up later in the year.

Please give this man something to do.

Coming right on the heels of the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber also has another serious problem in the form of Sheamus. As the winner of the Royal Rumble Match and the recipient of a main event world title match at WrestleMania, the Celtic Warrior should be one of the focal points of WWE programming right now. But, since he has no storyline reason to want to compete in either Elimination Chamber Match, that means that there are exactly twelve guys who will be getting better billing than him at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, with his only real scheduled involvement being his gig as the event’s poster boy. How can WWE promote Sheamus as a big deal when he has absolutely no involvement in the next pay-per-view and is basically just killing time until it’s over? There’s no problem with having another event between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, but as it is now, we don’t even know which title Sheamus will challenge for, much less which of six different guys will be holding it when he does, making it next to impossible to build any kind of storyline for him.

I’m looking forward to the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, and so should you (in fact, you should come watch it with us at Highland Park in NYC!), but I’m mostly just excited to see the matches themselves, not because of any actual storylines going into the event. WWE could easily position Elimination Chamber as a major, must-see show, paying off existing rivalries and setting up new ones, but for that to happen, the company needs to put more thought into their storylines as well as their pay-per-view event schedule. Until that happens, Elimination Chamber will only be a neat pay-per-view, not a great one

I like Beth to win
Cena to win
Daniel Bryan, I think if Orton was there he would have won to set up a triple threat at Mania with Sheamus and Bryan
I like Jericho to be new champion to set up Punk-Jericho.

Also look for something to happen to get Triple H-Taker.

Everyone can see that would be smart to do... so they will have Punk retain and have a heel chase the title to Mania. SWERVE!! And Lauranitis' announcement will be the hire of Vince Russo. SECRET SWERVE!!

Several readers have sent in word that they have spotted injured WWE star Rey Mysterio checking into the Hyatt Hotel Downtown in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Additionally, injured WWE star Christian Tweeted a photo of a postcard from Milwaukee that reads "Love From Milwaukee." You can check out the photo at http://lockerz.com/s/185156609.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin is hosting tomorrow night's WWE Elimination Chamber PPV at The Bradley Center.

It all depends how long Jericho is sticking around.

If he's gone soon, he wins tonight and Punk chases him to Mania like Austin chased Michaels.

If he's gonna be around for awhile, Punk wins tonight and loses to Jericho at Mania and they can feud til SummerSlam.

He almost has to.

As long as there isn't a "surprise for surprise's sake" title switch I think I'll enjoy it.

WWE Teasing Christian's Return At Pay-Per-View, Lilian Garcia On Music Video Set
By Daniel Pena
Feb 19, 2012 - 3:37:33 PM

-- WWE.com has raised speculation that Christian will be appearing at tonight's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event after the WWE Superstar tweeted a postcard last night from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the location of the event. In an article, the website ponders whether he will appear on the show.

Greg Adkins writes, "Is he actually in Wisconsin’s largest city? Or is he pulling another prank on the WWE Universe? If he is there, will he compete at tonight’s Elimination Chamber? And what would his arrival signal within the ranks of WWE?"

He continues, "To find out if Christian will indeed reemerge to shock the WWE Universe, be sure to watch the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view live at 8 ET/ 5 PT."

Don't rember whom cage was fueding with pre injury but a cage/bryant/carrot top 3 way dance at mania would be good
