By the way, I had no idea that Curt Schilling was involved in the making of Reckoning.

With Salvatore... I'm definitely getting Kingdom of Amalur:Reckoning. Surprised Ugueth didn't give that a go instead of Dragon Age. I heard mixed reviews of the Dragon Age games.

FF Tactics was my favorite. I replay it every few years to this day.

FF IV had a lot, I think there was 12. I actually forgot about a lot of those guys. But VI was the first FF to get away from Medieval setting.

It did and it didn't. Overall it was mostly steampunk, but they still kept their toes dipped in the castles-knights milieu (Doma, Figaro, Cyan, Edgar)

The first one also had the floating castle and the great WARMECH. Still, most of those games were in the medieval setting.

No guns in the game, but Narshe and Vector, plus the whole Magitek thing, have some kind of industrial color to them. It's hard to classify Final Fantasy games, based as they are in the Japanese cherry-picking disparate elements of Western history and mythology/religion/folklore such that you wind up summoning Gaelic cats and Arabian fire spirits to do battle with Italian court jesters named for Czech-Jewish authors who act as generals of industrial powers, all wrapped up in a sometimes-bald-faced rewrite of Star Wars.

Kinda sold on the Dragon's Age (or whatever) just on the posts alone. Strange that I can only d/l a demo for #2 but not #1.

I didn't see if anyone mentioned Fable 2 ... I thought that was nice; I thought Fable 3 sucked to high heaven though.

Just got finished playing about 2 hours of Dragon Age: Origins. Like it so far, but am already regretting my choice of race (rogue). I turned up the difficulty a bit to make it a bit more than just a button-masher, and promptly got killed halfway through the Joining ritual.

I don't have you on ignore. I meant that I failed to mention it, this one in particular. IDK why I always think that it's one of the Dragon Quest games, but it's actually a Capcom game.

Love this fucking game.

Still trying to dig up the sequel but that shit is expensive.

So I've been playing Dragon Age: Origins for a little while now and while I definitely enjoy it (thanks for the recommendation), my character has a bad habit of dying.

I went with a rogue, and despite my efforts of leveling up the character he still seems to die pretty easily in larger battles.

For those who are familiar with the game, would it beneficial to equip the rogue with a shield? Should I always go with dual weapons? I have him armoured pretty well for his strength limits, but any additional things I should focus on?

Couldn't sleep Saturday Night so I fired up Final Fantasy Tactics at like 4am. Absolutely phenomenal game

I'm definitely focusing more on the combat skills as opposed to cunning, stealth, etc. I originally went with rogue because I wanted the theft and persuasion skills associated with the race.

Would I be better off making the character an archer?

I ended up being a warrior that used a shield ... wasn't perhaps the most 'exciting' choice as far as combat goes, but it got the job done.

I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. Still have the Awakening to play but I thought I'd switch off to something else for a while, like trying not to suck at NBA2k12.

BTW, apropos of nothing, Star Wars the Force Unleashed sucks dick.

Play a few games online. See what other players do when they play. Helped me out a lot.
