Well, that's a relief. I didn't want to have to break it to yet another CSFMB regular that doing anyone into "normalcy" isn't really an option for him, either.

I am not a huge Brown or Wale fan- I think they are both better-than-average. I think that, in order to get the most from Anderson, you really need a three-man rotation on the ends. Hopefully this new kid can provide that; Wale's salary is a cap hit the Bears could do without, especially with the off season from hell coming up next year.

Did anyone listen to the Score coverage today? I thought that Larry did a decent job of driving the show, although my appreciation of him may go up as his speaking time goes down. Hub was on fire today, ripping into the Raiders and comparing Russell to Akili Smith. (I'm not unsympathetic to that view, BTW.) It was kinda fun to hear someone go out on a limb and say that- usually, the only person who will ever rip a pick during the TV broadcast is Kiper, which is why I kinda like Kiper too.

Yeah, the interviews with Bears players Adrian Peterson and Danieal Manning were riveting. Yikes! I'd be shocked if either of these guys can go to the toilet without help from an assistant coach.

I was actually really impressed by J.D. Runnels, for some reason. I don't remember why, but I thought he came off very intelligently. I didn't hear Peterson, but I agree about Manning- Yikes is right!

Also, Reggie Bush used "whomever" correctly in a sentence in an interview on ESPN radio, which caught me off guard- it's one of those correct usages that sounds wrong, or sounds like it's coming from an English schoolmarm. In my strange universe, correct use of the accustive form of an indefinite personal pronoun causes me to like a person by around 500% more. Between my Ode to Kolber and my anal-linguistic tendancies, I am revealing much too much of myself tonight. Must be the Stoli!

I'll go out here and say the Bears will take Antonio Pittman if he is there.

I wonder if that run of about 7 WR in a row caught Angelo off guard. I have to think they had planned to take a WR with one of these upcoming picks, along with Pittman of course.

Moss + Grossman = 3rd place in the NFC North next year.

Garrett Wolfe huh? I'm glad they got a change of pace guy but I think I'd have rather had Pittman. More size, just as fast. But, I think Wolfe could be good in that role too.

I've never heard of Okwo.

Mully said earlier in the week that Wolfe wouldn't be drafted. Good call.

That is why Mully is the most overrated writer and radio guy in this town. Nice guy, I just dont think he is as good as people say.

Wolfe was a big stretch pick. Most people had him as a 6th or 7th round pick at best. It will be interesting if Benson goes down. I don't know who would be scared of A.P and Wolfe. Could be trouble for Grossman.

I do agree that Wolfe in the 3rd round was a stretch. He's a quick back (4.39) but that size scares the hell out of me. He's not Maurice Jones Drew thick. He's more like Warrick Dunn but played against lesser competition. He can catch the ball out of the backfield so I guess it gives you a Dave Meggett type. Most people had him in the 5th round range.

Bazuin was another stretch. Widely seen as a 3rd/4th round pick, he was productive at Central Michigan but I cant think of one big name team he played against. Also, he's not really quick at his size (runs a 4.8).

Okwo was probably drafted for the system - he's a small linebacker probably best suited to play in the Cover 2 and will be able to step right in on special teams from Day 1.

While I think the Olsen pick was great, the other picks are head scratchers.

I think Bazuin played against Michigan last year, and IIRC, he had a sack. Okwo seems to be almost the same exact player as the kid they picked up in the 4th round last year, Williams. This is probably a "let them compete and see whether either one is actually good" kind of pick. I imagine that one of the two is going to be your 2007 starting weakside (or strongside?) linebacker.

I reserve any and all judgment on the Wolfe pick until I see him against NFL competition, but I do remember all the Michael-Turner's-future-job-as-gas-station-attendant jokes, and I think that has turned out rather nicely for SD. I realize that Turner and Wolfe are different players, but still, I'm sure that the Bears are hoping the same dynamic applies.

I really hope we're going to see some O-lineman in this draft.

Wolfe is my guy. If used appropriately he will add a dimension to this team that it simply does not have. He's not Reggie Bush, but you can use him in a way similar to Bush. 10-15 touches per game: 5 catches from a variety of angles (backfield, motion out of backfield and split out), 5 runs, and some special teams. Think about this option for a second, wolfe, hester berrian and olsen on the field at the same time. The Bears would have a 1 step advantage on every defensive counterpart on the field.

I really liked Bauzin. As far as competition, he did play against 1st round pick Joe Staley. I don't know what his production was.

The theme of Day 1 for the Beloved was speed. Wolfe was taken a little early, but Angelo has shown that when he likes a guy enough to draft him one round early, his opinion is warranted.

Wow, I check in today to find that only GD is with me on this pick. We all loved how Benson and Jones had different styles; well, Wolfe certainly brings that to the table. Everyone's worreid about his size, but if I remember correctly, Jones went down if anyone looked at him hard; so long as Benson can wear the other team down a bit, and the line can create some gaps to run through, this guy is going to be a fucking nightmare for the other teams' secondaries. He's got something neither Benson nor Jones has: breakaway speed. All of a sudden, the Bear can design a bunch of plays which are predicated on a guy with that kind of speed as a back. I agree, GD, very much the Reggie Bush principle.

It seems the Bears also signed undrafted Notre Dame alums Darrius Walker (RB) and Chris Frome (DL)

I can't find anything on this other than from uhnd.com an unofficial Notre Dame website. I have to wonder why they would even waste their time on Walker. He looked spectacular early in his college days but never quite panned out for me.

We will need a 4th RB to help carry the load during pre-season.

So have the Bears just given up on receivers? By my calculations they drafted 14 players in the defensive backfield the past two years but no WR(Devin Hester is more of a DB so far).

Do we know what Garret Wolfe's actual 40 time is? In some venues I've seen it reported in the high 4.3s while Hub says he's more like a low to mid-4.5 guy. That's a pretty significant difference. One thing that disturbs me is that in Wolfe's highlight film, he does get caught from behind on a few runs--by MAC players, too!

My initial reaction to the Garret Wolfe draft was "oh cool". But now thinking about it, I'm not sure he would be any better of a third down back than the undrafted free agent Darius Walker.

NFL.com had him at 4.46 on campus. So, I think he is solidly in the 4.4s.

Where did Hub run his track?

Anyway, that said, I'd still rather have Pittman.

1. Back then (2002) she already looked like someone with serious miles on.
2. Hair extensions she was sporting yesterday have got to go. Boyish haircut works much better.
3. Would I? No, too old.
4. Would SP Mack?

Sure, I love chicks that know sports. Spaulding better be luck she is spoken for

I saw a combine 40 of 4.39. I think Hub is full of it as a small and slow back would probably not get drafted. I saw quite a few NIU games on television over his career and he always seemed like the fastest guy on the field to me.

Everyone was high on Lorenzo Booker who was not an every down back even in college (and this was not a great FSU year on offense). I always thought Wolfe was the better option to fill the particular role of 3rd down back.

I did think 3rd round was high. I was thinking JA could stretch and taken him in the 5th.
