I realized San Diego gave up a lot to get the 37th pick, but I wonder how the draft would have looked if the bears kept that pick. Also, with this trade it basically meant Thomas Jones was worth a third round pick this year and next year.

I don't think they could have passed on getting all of the extra picks from SD.

So you think they would have drafted Jarret? I dont get the DE draft. Are they going to let Ogunleye go?

Yeah, getting that many picks is huge. But I would have liked to have seen them take Sidney Rice if they kept that pick.

According to one report in the Tribune, the Bears were interested in Gonzalez from Ohio St. When he went to Indy at #32, they decided to trade down.

I think Ogunleye has to take a pay cut or he might become a cap casualty. They have gotten equal production from him and Brown even though Brown makes a 1/3 of Oguleye's salary. With the emergence of Mark Anderson as a play maker that decision would make the most sense to me.

If Anderson proves capable of containing the run, Ogunleye will be gone.

This will be a year of shaking out for the Bear DE situation. I think it would be premature to cut anyone.

Maybe this is JA's way of telling Rosenhaus that he is bringing some friends to the rodgering. First Briggs will play for the 7.5 million and then Adewale will have to renegotiate.

In thinking about #37, I would have been sorely diappointed if they did not draft one of the top guards. Most of the guys at that level were guards who could play tackle. It would have been nice to have someone who would be better than St. Clair to back up our aging tackles. In trading down they got a guard who was just a notch below my Grubbs-Sears-Texas guy picks. Beekman can play G-C which also comes in handy.

In the end I see almost no negative impact to the move. They got a guard I liked while getting three additional picks, including a day 1 next year.

I'll take it a step further here and set myself up to be crapped: Cedric Benson-Garrett Wolfe will be as productive as Thomas Jones-Cedric Benson of 2006.

Agreed dolphin, I watched Turner down here for far too long. He didn't do many things right but, one thing he was able to exploit offensively was a scat back. Rocky Harvey comes to mind. Turner will be able to dust off some of that playbook and use Wolfe for about 8-10 plays a game with great success.
I am looking forward to seeing Wolfe in the fourth quarter after Benson has softened up the D, could be exciting.
