hawkeye, where do you live?
i'm leaning towards crashing at my sister's house tomorrow night in the City to cut my drive in half. she's near armitage and western.
I just talked to NSJ about cruising with him, but i think i would rather get up at 6:30 instead of 5:00 Wednesday morning and meet up with you and Ryan somewhere...
whatdya think?

I'm on Grand and Damen a few blocks north of the United Center. I'm picking up Ryan around 7:30 from an el stop to be determined. If you're staying in the city feel free to ride with us. Any chance you could take the Bed line to the Blue line stop at Grand? I could pick both of you up at the same time then.

weird question, but do they allow clubs to be taken on the L. I think I'm going to refrain from being a cheap ass and just get a cab to your place.

No bets will be accepted by a player betting on his own team to lose and no "over" bets will be accepted by a player on his own team. Do it like the guys in the NBA...find somebody else to place your bets against your own team.

I will not be a party to intentional tanking. You guys are capable of doing that on your own without having a reason.

Shouldn't be a problem as I've taken luggage many times on the el on the way to O'Hare. Good work on the betting Coast. I think this could shape up to be very interesting.

There is a Dunkin Donuts and it's right on the way down south a few blocks from where I live. You can take a cab to my place too. Either way works for me.

I find it hilarious and humbling that we have C2C himself setting lines on this competition. However, I feel a little iffy about giving up 4 shots in a scramble to 2 guys that used to work at golf courses.

But, I'll step out and predict, having neither met the guys in my foursome, nor having seen them play, nor having ever seen the course (yes, classic neither/nor/nor sentence construction for you grammar police), that our group will be -7 at minimum.

And, before you take that over Ryan, let me warn you that there's one of these in Dr. Ken's history, except there were little golfing men on ours and the year had a 1 and a 9 and a 8 and some other number on it (now where is button #48?)...

Put me down for an 85. I only play once a year kinda golfer and can get off two decent drives out of the box.

Was at the range for a bucket today and and will hit it tomorrow to sharpen ringing abilities. Famous last words, my strength is the short game.

Oh, well put us down for -10 then.

Did I mention I won one of these once as an amateur in a small tournament down in Georgia a few years back...

On a side note, as a result of this golf outing, I've been called "Dr. Kenneth Noisewater" on the phone twice today by people that know what my real name is.

I find it a little weird to actually be called that in "the real world" and twice as weird to have to introduce myself as that. I'm a grown man referring to myself as Dr. Kenneth Noisewater. It's different when you have to say it out loud as opposed to "signing" an email.

If I were to ever meet you Doc, I would not even want to know your real name. You would be Doc to me, why ruin a good thing.

It could be worse, Doc...your name could be James Westfall.

Action is picking up on the favorite...especially when don comes in and says his short game is his strength and that he will shoot 85. And with the Doc himself strutting a bit, the line just has to move.

Current Line: Dr. Ken et al -6 (3 shots/side); Over/Under: 6 under par
DRSH: (Doug, Ryan Scholar, Hawkeye) +6; Over/Under: even par

Ryan's bet on Doc over -4 looks like a bad bet now. Had you waited, you could have gotten a better number.

I'll take the under on our side. I've seen enough scrambles to know the gamesmanship involved, and as a former caddie I'm OUTSTANDING at improving people's lies. Four rolls at a hole is usually all a bad putter needs to make up for it, so once we get the kinks worked out in the batting order, I think we could be alright.

i have a feeling all of you are lying....

i predict everybodys score would be 5-8 shots higher than they're saying if we played "regular" and "official."

which would put me around a 112...also more realistic if we're playing from the blues and the course is 6900 yards.
:?

well, like I sad before, I'm somewhat like Noisewater where I just don't play enough and can shoot anywhere from 79-100. last year, I shot a freaking 103 at this event (granted i can't even tell you how many I had in me by the end of my round). We'll just see when it plays out. If I play consistently I'll shoot in the 80's. That's why i said 90 for myself.

It all depends on if my mental game stays with me the entire round - sometimes I lose focus and then it is all downhill from there.

Again, just to set expectations for anyone placing money . . . I suck at golf and will be focused on not slowing anyone down and drinking. My friend Hal can hold his own.
