At the conclusion of each week, Steve Rosenbloom used to ask the listeners (and his partner Sean Salisbury) 'What did we learn this week'??

Well, Sean Salisbury's tenure of approximately one year has now dwindled down to the point where he's gone.

Here's my question:

What did you learn about or from Sean Salisbury in the past year?

I learned that there are some people in this world are ignorant, egotistical assholes that no matter how logical someone's constructive criticism can be, they can't admit that it just may be a good idea to listen to someone else's perspective and respect it, ever. I knew there were ignorant people. I've met more than my share of egotistical maniacs. But I've never heard someone be such an asshole on such a consistent basis. This guy takes the cake.

Nicely played Woodridge. If he takes the cake, is that why he's known as Seany Cakes?

This is gonna be a fun thread. I'm still trying to figure out what he taught me other than being an all around know it all douchebag, that loves to drop names on 'nationally known' B-list celebs. I need a half dozen Sliders to allow myself another 10 minutes to ponder and flutterblast.

Considering I never listened all the way through to the end of a show, I'll take your word on this.

Salisbury was just a jock who has never grown out of it. I think he knows football well, but he was a hard listen because he was an asshole to anyone who dared argued with him.

Rosenbloom was, and has been for 10+ years, a miserable sports columnist who could find a problem with the Bears winning a Super Bowl. I don't expect him to be a cheerleader, but I also don't find it entertaining to listen to his 3 hour bashing/negativity every single day.

I just want good sports conversation, and I think Waddle and Silverman (though I was hoping for a 3 man booth with Carmen) will do that.

I can say I learned anything.
but, it did confirm one belief...

half-assed attempts at hosting a sports radio show, by guys who are "known" from a different medium, consistently fail in this market.
you don't have to think long for examples.

I learned that some people can talk for five minutes straight without any periods or commas in their conversation.

I learned that even if your daily talk show gets unceremoniously dumped, you can still call in and offer an opinion during AM1000's NFL Draft Day show this past Saturday.

Didn't really care but it was a bit surprising.

I learned that Sean hit his peak during "Battlebots"...

That you really can stack shit that high.

That anananana really does mean something.

I learned this wasn't THE worst show ever, but haven't heard them all either.

Learned being consistently hungover all week is NOT the way to roll if your job is public speaking. That shit is cool warehouse guy and work outisde guy, but talk radio?

I learned that talking loud and being incredibly obnoxious is a great way to win an argument. I also learned that the zoom feature on my camera phone serves a greater purpose than I first thought. And lastly, I learned that any radio segment that ends in blog is just fantastic radio.

Unfortunately this is true. I went off on one cab driver that didn't know how to get from the Marriott to McCormick Place. I was frickin screaming in the MFer's ear because I was going to be late (to get to the trade show an hour before opening time), and the guy ended up double curbing it, and blowing out both his passenger side tires. Serves the MFer right. Get the fuck out of the country you towel headed illiterate dumb ass smelly directionally challenged piece of shit.

Maybe if Salisbury had gone off on the radio like this after his cab ride, his stock would have risen (except for the slur of course...)

Rosey is gone. He turned down weeknights. Salisbury will be used as a nfl analyst for the station. Im not sure who would use him though.

He apparently declined the night show offer so I guess he's out.

They'll use him - they pretty much have to. That, or they are giving him money for the next two years for doing nothing. NO business would do that (well, except for the Yankees with Pavano and the Cubs with Prior).
