This would be ideal for not only racing but also I'd love to have a car that could be used both in good weather and in bad weather. My guess is that the whole "car that can drive in the rain" won't be solved in my lifetime though.

I prepared myself for the 5 minute discussion that will happen at some point today by a random Score host lamenting that they don't race in the rain with rain tires.

Junior Johnson, Ralph Earnhardt, the Allisons and the rest of the good ol' boys could drive anythin', anywere and anytime.

The pussification of the South?!?

Please.

Here's hoping everyone in the arena begins to feel "sleepy".

When I was down in Florida last month I was looking for something to read at a 7-11. I saw a Sports Illustrated with NASCAR preview on the cover. I thought it was the regular SI, but it turned out it was a special NASCAR edition. I wasn't happy I spent 7 or 8 bucks on it. But I didn't have anything else to read so I read it anyway. There was an article in there with guys talking exactly like that. I think it was Bobby Allison or Cale Yaroborough. They wanted to let more air under the cars and make the cars "look like what's on our driveways". "It's all about some nerd in the tower with a computer anymore. Back in our day the driver was the most important thing. They should get back to that."

Not the best example, but I get it.

Stock cars weigh about........ 1,000 lbs more than those toys? And are driving on an oval, not a road course. They would fly into the Atlantic if they raced in the rain at Daytona.

I know this is a dumb question, but wouldn't the drivers just adjust? If not, they crash which happens all the time especially when they let Danica drive.

What makes it so dangerous to drive in the rain here? Would the racing just suck as they all went 100 mph around the course?

Why don't they just start walking or running or biking? When conditions are said to be safe, they can hop in their cars. I thought these guys were athletes...

They do. The premier racing league in the whole world runs in the rain.

But those cars weigh nothing and have so much downforce they can run on the ceiling of a tunnel at 110 mph. ( that part is for real)

NASCAR has its faults compared to other leagues. This isn't one of them. They can not drive in the rain.
