#1 Florida and #2 Stanford are easy picks as they are both absolutely stacked. Florida has a deeper pitching staff led by RHP Hudson Randall and LHP Brian Johnson and the best player in the country in C Mike Zunino. Stanford has arguably the best pitcher in the country in Mark Appel and tons of offensive weapons. #3 South Carolina is a bit of a surprise considering how much talent they lost from the last 2 CWS teams. #4 Arkansas will go as far as Ryne Stanek's right arm and Dominic Ficociello's bat takes them. #10 Vandy is a little low. They lost a lot from last season but have recruited well and have unsigned 1st rounder Tyler Beede ready to step in the weekend rotation. #17 ASU is very low. They are disqualified from post season play because of recruiting violations but SS Deven Marerro , RHP Jake Barrett and the top recuiting class in the nation will make life hell for the other Pac-10 teams. #24 Louisville is a team on the rise with many Chicago area players including Nick Burdi (Downers Grove), Joe Ceja (Ottawa), Joey Filomeno (St Rita) and Nick Ratajczak (Joliet Catholic). Should be a fun season.

1. Florida 53-19
2. Stanford 35-22
3. South Carolina 55-14
4. Arkansas 40-22
5. Arizona 39-21
6. Rice 42-21
7. Texas A&M 47-22
8. Louisiana State 36-20
9. North Carolina 51-16
10. Vanderbilt 54-12
11. Georgia 33-32
12. Georgia Tech 42-21
13. Texas 49-19
14. UCLA 35-24
15. Texas Christian 43-19
16. Clemson 43-20
17. Arizona State 43-18
18. Miami 38-23
19. Oklahoma 41-19
20. Florida State 46-19
21. Central Florida 39-23
22. Mississippi 30-25
23. Oregon State 41-19
24. Louisville 32-29
25. Cal State Fullerton 41-17

Keyser, I was thinking of you last night. I was reading my Hawgs Illustrated magazine and there is a great article in there on Cox and McCann. If you want to read it, PM me your e-mail address and I will get if for you.

There facilities and with what they are about to do will be 2nd to none in college.

Anyone in the Big 10 going to sniff the top 25?

Purdue should be the preseason Big 10 favorite. Michigan St and Minnesota will compete too though I doubt any of them will sniff the top 25. It will be interesting to see how Nebraska fares in the Big 10. They've had some good teams in the past but have fallen on hard times the last few years but new head coach Darin Erstad and all his grindiness will surely bring the program back to it's past glories.

BA did their Big 10 preview today. This is a down year even for the Big 10. They picked Purdue 1, Michigan St 2, Minnesota 3 and Nebraka 4. Any of those teams can win the conference and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Minnesota is there in the end.

It's funny that 2 of the top 5 newcomers are from the same high school team (Providence).

3. Sam Travis, 3b, Indiana (HS—New Lenox, Ill.) This Kid can REALLY hit.
4. Brandon Magallones, rhp, Northwestern (HS—New Lenox, Ill.)

Purdue is getting some love after kicking the crap out of UConn, Cincinnati and Notre Dame in the Big East/Big 10 challenge this weekend. They have some tough games coming up against East Carolina, Auburn and Southern Miss and if they hold their own against those teams they could break into the top 25.

BTW- Fr. Sam Travis hit 3rd for Indiana this weekend and went 4-11 with 2 RBI. This Kid can REALLY hit.

Possibly add to that an oral commitment from Corey Ray (Simeon), one of the 3-4 highest ranked Jrs. in the State & certainly one of the best hitters in the country.

Ray would be a huge get for them. I saw his name on a list of top juniors in the country. Louisville also has an oral commitment to another junior named Nick Solak from Naperville North and a commitment from Sr. RHP Kyle Funkhouser from Oak Forest. If Funkhouser doesn't sign with a pro team they'll have a nasty 1-2 punch with Funky and Nick Burdi who won his college debut against Eastern Kentucky this week (4IP 2H 0ER 3BB 4K's).

Louisville is building a nice little program. I wonder if they're eyeing a move to the ACC or Big 12.

Hawger- Your Hogs are on ESPN3 this Friday and Saturday.

No, I haven't seen them yet this year. I have been paying attention though and it is amazing how good they are considering how much they lost.

I've watched them on ESPN3 and Comcast. They're on ESPN3 this sunday afternoon. ESPNU starts their Thursday night SEC games this week so they should carry a couple Arkansas games too.

ESPNU kicks off the season with a bang. Florida vs. South Carolina. Hudson Randall vs Michael Roth. That will be a REAL good one.

What is the highest a Big Ten team has been ranked in the past 5 years or so?

Is this pretty surprising that one would be in the top 20?

I don't think a Big 10 team has been ranked in the top 20 in the last 10+ years and it's surprising Purdue is there this year. They are a very good offensive team led by two legit pro prospects in C Kevin Plawecki and 3B Cameron Perkins but nobody expected them to pitch this well. If they continue to play like this they could possibly host a regional and there is no one who would have predicted that.

Alright Keyser pardon my bitch mode, but here goes. Please explain to me how Stanford can go 1-4 for the week and Arkansas gets swept and L.S.U. and how big the drops were?

The reason Stanford didn't drop too much after being swept by a very good Arizona team is because they have played a much tougher non-conference schedule. Stanford has played series versus Vandy, Texas, Fresno St and Rice and destroyed them all. LSU was Arkansas' first big test of the year and they didn't fair too well though Sat and Sun games were close. I think this was a hiccup for both teams and they should move back up the rankings in the next couple weeks.

Bitch mode pardoned. :D
