It happened because a vehicle with jet fuel is on the track while cars are driving at high rates of speed. Had he hit the wall or the pace car, you just move the car off the track. Instead they have to spend 45 minutes clearing jet fuel off a track. They are luck that thing wasnt closer to a wall where the fire could have spread and killed fans as well.

they used tide. now they are sealing the burnt spot with some sort of sealer. likely will air dry. oil dry, or kitty litter as you wish, makes the track slippery and doesnt dissolve oil
