Illinois is going to have to put together quite the run here to make the tourney, in my mind.

Oh, I agree. Don't get me wrong.

I just think it is funny that ILL has bad losses but NW doesn't even though they've pretty much lost to the same teams and each other.

This setup is perfect for Illinois to play themselves into the NCAA tournament. 2-0 this week and they can sneak in with a good BTT.

I don't know. I didn't see anything in this last game that would indicate that Illinois has the poise to make that type of run.

This team has beaten OSU and MSU at home. I think they can take Michigan at home too. They can win @Wisconsin too. I wouldn't bet money on it but Illinois has a chance to rally and given how poor the bubble is this year they can still make a legitimate claim that two big wins this week and making it to Saturday of the BTT(beating one or two tournament teams to make it there) would give them 4 big wins.

It would be sad if the Illinois players just packed it in and gave up on the season. They still have a shot.

I will be watching and wonder whether we will see Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. Would be a nice
resume builder for them but they still have to make a few waves in the Big 10 tourney next
week.

They will have a nice run in the NIT.. Bye Bye Weber. I still think that they have some
nice pieces in the underclassmen in the backcourt. I am really starting to hate Leonard. I had my
TV up pretty loud last night and I couldn't believe how much he bitches on the court. He will never
be an NBA guy if he plays like a pussy. He made some shots and had a decent game but he seems
to think the whole team should revolve around him scoring points and that isn't the case. He is the
cog in the wheel but he can't shoot all the time. What an stupid bitch. This team doesn't seem to
have it together at all.... have to look at the coach at this point. You can't control your players??

I'm guessing you'll only have a few more games to hate him.

If he thinks he is ready for the NBA I look forward to buying motor oil from him in 2 years.

Your team should be called the Nubbacks. No razor to them at all.... Take that you bastard! :alien:

He's going. He made that decision in November and has been playing like it.

Watching this team is painful. They've been so bad that I've been reminiscing fondly about the glorious teams of McCamey, Tisdale, and Davis.

Doc, that last statement brought a salty tear to my eye.... He will drown in that environment
as a 20 yr old. He is tall but a big puss. He needs at least 15 lbs of muscle on him and a year of
kicking ass. He is going to get his ass handed to him and out of the league in less than 3 years.
It is too bad because he has some talent I just don't see him ready to turn pro after his sophomore
year. If his family needs money that is one thing but to do it to get out of the program that is weak.
He can learn a lot in the Big Ten, that has been obvious this year. If he is upset about not getting the
ball now, how is he going to feel about it sitting on the bench all year?

Look on the bright side, a Weber recruit will finally make the NBA!

Oh wait....

I will believe it when I see it. I still don't see him as anything but a late 1st rounder. If he
stays and kicks some butt he can be a top 10 pick or better.

10:30 am tip today against Iowa in 1st round of Big Ten tourney. I'd like to see them move on but won't be
suprised if this ends the 2011-2012 season.

And that will do it. Another pathetic effort. I hope they don't get invited to the NIT. Really no point to watch them lose another game.

Countdown to Weber's firing begins now...

I can't believe how poorly Illinois plays as a team. There is almost no teamwork. It's just a bunch of guys getting their shots. The ball should have been going through Leonard every single possession in the second half. He was playing really well.

It's just amazing that you can add so much talent and yet not improve your team because the talent just doesn't work together.

I think AAU basketball has a bit to do with it. The top talent plays on these teams that have little to no coaching while boosting egos. By the time the kids get to college, they lack the understanding needed to run proper offenses and play good defense. Coaches should be able to teach them that, but that has not happened at all the last few years at Illinois. The team looks terribly dumb quite often because of the obvious lack of basketball intelligence.

If you watched this team all season, there's really no one else to blame but Weber. I'm not a guy to slam a coach, but early on this team had confidence and at one point I wouldn't have been surprised if they had beaten anyone. He allowed them to lose their mojo to the point where it became a surprise if they beat anyone. The crazy speech after the Purdue game was just the last straw.

Iowa plays below the rim. Can't jump to foul people on drives.
