Bears need a big time wideout, and this guy is awesome. It would cost the Bears their 1st round pick to sign him. Would it be worth it?

He is already a proven talent. I have no problem losing the first round pick.

Jerry would just mess up the first round pick anyways.

My initial reaction, if this is the first round pick alone, is you have to do it. He'll be 26 starting the season next year, as opposed to 28, 29, and 30 for the free agent receivers. He's a proven deep threat, which is what the offense is supposed to be based on next year. Run, and toss deep.

I didn't even think this was an option, so I haven't researched it much. I'm pretty sure I've heard Pittsburgh isn't letting him go, if the only compensation being a first round pick. I could be wrong.

Would the knew guy?

Would you rather have Wallace at $10M per for 5 years or the Floyd from ND for $2M per for 4 years?

The Pittsburgh Steelers plan to tender, not franchise, restricted free agent Mike Wallace, according to a source close to the wide receiver.

Hensley: Only Choice for Steelers
Not tagging Mike Wallace is risky but it's the only choice the cap-strapped Steelers could make, Jamison Hensley writes. Blog

• Schefter: Franchise candidates

This means another team could try to sign Wallace to an offer sheet that the Steelers would have the right to match -- or get a first-round pick in return.

Not going anywhere.

Damn you, BC

That would have been perfect

The Bears should offer him a billion dollars over 30 years. I doubt the Steelers would match it.

Steelers don't have the cash to match a $10M or $11M per year contract.

IIRC this was one of GD's guys. He has a better track record than the Bears when it comes to prospects.

In fact, he already did. He loved Wallace in the draft, got outmanuvered for him in the 3rd round and took Juaquin Iglesias

The problem with going after Wallace is that Pittsburgh will likely wait until the entire week before officially deciding on a course of action meaning the Bears could miss out on other WR targets if the Steelers figured out a way to make the contract offer work for them or just stalled them from making moves on other targets, who usually go off the market quickly.
