Tried to order from this place in the past....twice. Once told not taking any more orders and the other times was a 90 minute wait to pick up a pizza, so didnt make the move.

If you are not familiar with the Great Lake, they got some best pizza in the country award from Food and Whhine in 2009? They maintain that chabby chic storefont look, with 2 or 3 tables that look like from the french chateau (Guessing just a renovated 2 flat door made into a table)

The Menu is like 3 different options of pizza, only 1 is Tomato..and the menu I saw did offer Pepperoni..which I was surprised, due to knowing they offered very limited topping...a few mushrooms, cheese, onions and basil.

Anyways, was in the area tonight, due to a meeting and placed my order...and got the 1 hour wait time...perfect...Meeting should take an hour.

Ordered a cheese and pepperoni. Was told they didnt have pepperoni, but they did have Chorizo..."it's a spicy mexican sausage" (Yeah, I know what it is culinary queen.)

14", thin crust pizza, on a stone, probably took 3 minutes to make and 5 minutes to cook....$32! Well now...this better be some good pizza!

No way I am waiting to drive home before a sample slice comes out!

Yeah, it's good. A Little greasy as they add Olive Oil to the finished product, which I dont think they need to do, but what do I know, I have only been eating pizza since this guy was crapping in his diapers. It was not the Mona Lisa of Pizza as they sure think it is...and the 4 patrons in the joint...all wearing black, as they are out for a special night...of pizza....while having the waitress bring them gourmet truffles in a container to see which one they should by...I mean they are at Great Lake!

The Pizza is good. Crispy thin crust, cheese melted..but very limited amount (I am sure the pizza master would tell you it is the perfect amount) and the chorizo was ok as well, nothing special.

Would I order again if it was closer and cheaper, sure. It was a little like an appetizer pizza at a nicer place.

Pizza Serio gives you almost the same thing, for half the price and half the pretentiousness from this overpriced, overhyped Andersonville place.

No knock on the product, but $32..come on son!

This is one of those places where they think they are doing you a favor by allowing you to eat there. Like Schwa. Fuck that. I'll go to a place where the owner busts his ass like EL.

The place is a one room dump and the guy thinks he is putting on a show while making the 3 ingredient pizza.

I walked in wearing my full construction outfit. Carthart Jacket, Coat and Hat with construction boots. the guy took 1 second look at me and turned away, thinking I might not be able to pay the bill.

The 2 Hipster chicks working the counter made this transaction also much more than needed.

1. She opened the warming box...No pizzas...
2. My Pizza was on the table being boxed.

So you had no other orders ready...4 people sitting in the place and you didnt know where my pizza was as the girl 2 feet from you was boxing it?

One last thing....for $32....I think we can find a box that is not the cheapest flimsy box on the market...

Good to hear a real review of this place. Every review I read is the verbal equivalent of a blowjob from Jennifer Aniston... its probably as good as any other decent blowjob, but because its from Jennifer Aniston, it instantly becomes the greatest thing of all time.

My taste is starting to change towards an olive oil and non-tomato based pizza. Most of the places here just put too much damned cheese and sauce on the pizza.

Most places would be out of business if biggie was reviewing them in the Tribune/Sun-Times.

Aniston - meh, but I think the lips of Angelina Jolie could in fact make for the worlds greatest blowie.

Wouldnt the bag you have to put on her head get in the way? I would hate to get papercuts on my dick.

I have a very fair record...granted I need to update my reviews, but it looks like more than 50% are over the 5 mark...which is basically the GOOD Mark.

As a former establishment owner, I know when a place is going down hill, the owner has put it on coast, or the waitstaff sucks.

Not going to name the 'Well Reviewed" Italian place on the Northside, but had a great reputation. Worked in the kitchen for a few nights as I did a place with them and here is the fish recipe.

-Cut open, gut it, salt, pepper, lemon slices...Microwave for 4 minutes, olive oil the skin...on the grill for 2 mins a side... and serve....

-One Sunday I had no wine in my place. Ran out to Walgreens and bought 5 bottles of white, some lady orders the wine and insists it is excellent and needs to know the name.

-One party we got slammed, I ended up bartending, making drinks as fast as I can. 3 girls standing in front of me, need 3 screwdrivers. I work their order in among 30 other drinks. 5 minutes later things settle down and the girls are complimenting me on how you can hardly taste the vodka.

-Couple would like 2 long island ice teas. Had no real idea how to make it. Triple sec, vodka and I dont know what else I put it...pepsi? They called it the best LI Teas they ever had.

-Chef quits on me at 4 PM, has a nervous breakdown. I have to cook for the night. Partner takes the prep guy to his more established place. Go into the office make new 'menu" 5 items for the night. Special. Rotini, Mozz cheese, Marinara, fresh basil, with chicken, extra. Compliments all night about the dish.

The point...MOST PEOPLE DONT KNOW SHIT!

You know, I was thinking about the Laurence thing some more. Maybe he has that weird touchy-phobia thing like Howie Mandel has? It's possible he's a big fan of bigfan.

And if that pizza place was using a higher quality pizza box, your cost would've been $35 instead of $32. So maybe they are looking out for you.

How do you explain the other 99% of why I dont like his part time shows.

From my huge dislike of Larry's shows, I started to backtrack on his radio personality when he started sitting in more with TB and Danny Mac. When he is with those guys, he is still on guard, he holds back his 'Original thoughts" that he thinks are "cool'...and I was OK with him...

Then when Mac and TB took time off and he sat with Db and Spiegs...he started flowing with his own show material and it was terrible. Either Spiegs and DB are geniuses or they just didnt want to fight with him about it, but they let him display his foolishness and it is like a constant reminder to Mitch...that this could be the guy?

One thing I continue to point out to how bad he is. He has a show and has nothing sponsored, except for the generic stuff the station sells.?

Interesting that he would go nerd in front of DB. Either he thinks Dan is his buddy and is comfy with him or he thinks DB is kind of a dork himself.

I think I had a similar review about a year ago.

It's a good pizza. It's not some orgasmic experience worthy of enduring shoddy treatment, high prices and unnecessarily long wait times.

I went in on a week day night towards the end of the day so I didn't have to wait long.

Ownership could best be described as the offspring of a three way between the soup Nazi, an underground music store owner and a university of chicago coffee shop barrista. You are treated with disdain from the moment you order, knowing that you will profane their artwork with your burgiouse tastebuds.

I'd like to say I'm not a fan of the "artisan"/"small batch" movement for everyday foods in this city. I kind of like it to tell you the truth. However, ownership seems to be populated by douchebags of the first order. I would think you would love what you do if you decided to open a shop. Part of what you do is sharing it with the world. These people seem only devoted to making some philosphical ideal food item, never to be eaten, only to be displayed to shame all the others who call themselves that food item.
