Today is the big day for Northwestern, does a win get them in.

With WKU and VCU getting in, the window has gotten quite a bit smaller for NW. I'm thinking they have to win two in the big ten tourney to get in now. Unless public sentiment pressure wins over.

Not sure if Seton Hall gets in, but they went 1-1 in their Big East Tournament.

The window only gets smaller with WKU getting in, if somebody from their conference would make it in also.

VCU winning doesn't help, because they keep putting Drexel in.

I think you are right. Beat Minny maybe, but Michigan will be near impossible.

If they win today they make it unless they get blown out by Michigan tomorrow.

Good game so far . . .

I agree. If they win this and win or have a close game tomorrow --- they're in.

Lose and they're out.

Lose and get blown out tomorrow --- and they're out.

They played Michigan very close both times this year - at NU and at Ann Arbor.

JerShon Cobb with a good game so far.

Northwestern looked nervous at the start but really calmed down and looks like the better team.

Washington lost in the first round of the Pac-12. That could knock them out.

That sucks.

They still have a shot though. It doesn't look good though.

The ESPN guy had them in before the game. Hopefully that's the case.

I wouldn't count Northwestern out yet, Lundardi did miss on some of the teams last year, nobody had UAB and VCU in last year and they got in.

I will ask since Weber will be gone, if No Tournament, does Carmody go too.

I guess the hope now is that Northwestern gets in over Oregon, Drexel, Xavier, and Washington. Texas probably locked up a spot. NC State can probably with a win today. Colorado losing today may help but probably not. Oregon State winning the tournament would take another spot away. Obviously, Northwestern does not want Minnesota or Iowa to win the BTT.

Probably not. Mediocrity is rewarded in the basketball program.

The pro-Carmody crowd says: He is the winningest coach in NU history. And he's moving the program forward each of the last three years.

The FBC crowd (FireBillCarmody) says: He's had over a decade to get to the dance and hasn't done it. He can't recruit and he's taken the program as far as it will go with the Princeton offense.

I'm in the latter crowd, but I think we are in the minority.

I know there's a lot of sentiment to this story, but I really don't think NU is better than any of those teams. Northwestern is only more deserving than the Illini by a razor thin margin and I don't think anyone would dream of putting Illinois in.

NW does not deserve to be in. Losing by close margins is not a reason to get in. They had to win some of those games, and they didn't.

I would say Oregon is out after last night's loss.

Lunardi was saying about Washington, that he couldn't find a team that won a Conference from the Power Conferences not make it, and this was a Top 10 Power Conference, not just the BCS.

I agree. I would not have Northwestern in.

Part of me wouldn't want Northwestern to get in like this. Winning a game or two towards the end would have been more satisfying than being lucky that a bunch of other teams lost.

The sad thing is I'm not sure this isn't the current peak for Northwestern. I haven't analyzed the roster enough but don't they lose Shurna and Crawford?

Should be a 1 or 2 in the Nit field.

I agree... I don't want to go in on a sympathy bid.

Also, Shurna does graduate. We have another year of Crawford I believe.

Can't defend our lack of fans or institutional support. At the end of the day, I'm a football fan so I couldn't really give a flying fuck about an NIT game.
