I just want to make sure I got this right:

Jokes about VFW electrical issues and watching food is bad and deletable, but speculation in a public forum about whether someone is a drug addict, alcoholic, or suicidal is perfectly fine.

Seems reasonable.

Thank you.

So because Mac is a scumbag it gives everyone else carte blanche to be a scumbag right back to him?

Why not? Why is he so special? Don't you find that to be hypocritical?

With the exception of Gloop and Sid I don't really see anybody else being a scumbag. Given what we know or think we know, none of these guesses are completely crazy. It's also possible that some one here that knows what's going on will tell us yes/no. I don't think all speculation on his absence, whether it is due to substance abuse, family issues, mental health, or anything else, is filled with contempt.

If you question is would I rather have a somewhat serious but possibly uncomfortable but purely speculatory conversation about a radio host that I have enjoyed on a personal and professional level opposed reading a probable malevolent joke then my answer would be, a thousand times, yes.

Thanks. However saying a guy with abuse issues may be in rehab doesn't strike me as being wrong on any count.

It is surprising that in this day & age of technology & immediate communication that the reason for Macs leave of absence is still a secret. Many people must know about this & none of them have slipped or leaked information.

Why is that horrible, in your opinion? Lots of people here have delt with it.

He'll say something when he comes back and it will be explained. How much we don't know but why does the discussion bother you?

It's gotta fall under HIPAA regs.

Could be anything. The joy you seem to be taking or have taken in the past is what makes you wrong on lots of counts, not that your facts maybe correct.

I'm sure it does. Their tone though when they do at least acknowledge his absence does not sound all that concerning. If they sounded seriously concerned then I think these speculation posts would be quite a bit different.

It bothers me personally because Ive dealt with it and I think its a touchy topic for a lot of people.

Unless there is some evidence suggesting thats the case, id never speculate that about someone.

I wouldnt speculate that one of his kids died either. Its just not a pleasent thought.

Im not a detective. Im mildly interested in what happened and hope Mac is ok but im not gonna leave no stone unturned trying to find out what happened.

A board member here is currently dealing with a terrible situation regarding suicide. I guess that person crossed my mind when it came up.

Then you haven't heard Spiegel. The last couple of times that he mentioned Mac being out he sounded very concerned.

Nah. Since when do HIPAA regs stop people from reporting rumors or news in sports or hollywood?

DivaPants was the one who has consistently sounded concerned.

B&B were the ones doing the chiding and the joking around about it. And, to be clear, I'm not saying that they were having a comedy hour at Danny Macs expense, just that they didn't sound at all concerned.

No. You're just kind of a dick when it comes to Mac. We've butted heads about it before, it will happen again. If you want to get down to it, I think a lot of the things you say about him are shitty but end up being worse because of what you leave in their wake.

Harry partied too much. I didn't think he could change or it would be easy...but it looks like he has. I wish him continued success.

Not really. I dont even dig Mac too much these days. And people weren't really specualting about Tiny. That story was right there with details. And it was pretty damn funny as well...

I think the difference with Harry is that he was busted for DUI with pot on his person...and that many of us (who hung around at remotes and did shots of tequila with Harry) could see this coming going back to late 2005.

I believe the same would have been true if Mac got nailed for the same thing.

It was still pretty gloves off with that whole thing.

I made an avatar out of it, so personally I have to say Gloop has something there.

If Mac is off due to drug/booze problems, it is. If not, its just Gloop throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks.
