I told ya so, I told ya these gutless pussies would take a huge giant cop out and that's exactly what they did. I knew they didn't have the balls to do it right. And having Carl shoot the zombie Shane is the lamest attempt at "making up for it" I've ever seen. If anything it came off as just a slap in the face to the hardcore fans.

For those of you who don't know, in the comics Shane tries to beat Rick to death in the woods and Carl shoots Shane and kills him. I've been saying on here all season that I feared AMC would pussy out and that's exactly what they did.

They've been playing that plotline wrong for too long now to go back. It wouldn't have made sense for Carl to shoot Shane, even if he was fighting with Rick in the woods. He clearly has father figure issues and hasn't shown nearly the decisiveness it would've taken to make that call.

Good episode, I will need to watch it again this week but Rick was never fooled and Daryl knew
exactly what was going on. I liked the flashbacks showing that the dead turn to zombies. It
went really quick for Shane, which worked for the storyline but was there another factor that
accelerated his rise to zombiedom?

Maybe being a jerk accelerates the zombification process. Randall went quick too.

Andrea's sister took a bit longer I think.

i liked the episode but couple things don't add up..

1. that little bitch carl did not have the balls to shoot a walker 2 days ago but now he shoots uncle shane at an extreme angle in the head.

2.randall was dead for hours and was a corpse when glen/daryl found him..shane comes back to life in 90 seconds

3. why is carl out alone at night when everyone was in the locked house..his ugly mom has one job ..watch the kid.

An entire night. She turned in the morning.

She probably didn't die till that morning. A serious knife wound would kill someone pretty quick, as well a broken neck. A bite acts like an infection and kills someone slowly. Eventually they die, and then come back.

She was dead. Andrea starts screaming and crying...Carl starts crying.

So because someone starts screaming and crying = death?

You don't know when she went from being unconscious to dead, and it's never clarified in the story.

Can we at least all agree that Rick appears to be an absolutely horrendous leader?

Barking orders at the wimmenfolk while scowling doesn't necessarily mean you have reestablished yourself as the leader of the group. He routinely makes terrible decisions, buckles under pressure when those decisions are questioned, and is the first one to volunteer to leave the group for whatever task deemed necessary.

Was he this way in the books?

o.k...you are right about daryl..not sure how i missed that either..

rick is an awful leader yes...why was carl pointing the gun at rick before shane got up and approached ..how bout a " look out dad" or step to the side instead of shooting past his ear at shane.

I'm not trying to make some grand argument out of this. People were questioning about how long it takes a dead body to turn, and they cited Andrea's sister as an example of taking a long time to turn. I just brought up the fact that nobody is sure when she finally died and that she was unconscious for awhile. So maybe she died 1 minute before she came back as a zombie, or maybe she died 6 hours before she came back as a zombie. Nobody knows for certain. Shane died almost instantly after being stabbed, and Randall died instantly from having his neck snapped, so they both came back right away. Once could make the same assumption then that Andrea's sister didn't die until right before she came back as a zombie too based on the evidence we see with Shane and Randall.

IMU, why does it matter how long it takes someone to turn into a zombie after dying?

I'm trying to establish that the show has shown us there is no exact time table.

This might become important later.

Didn't Jenner say to the group at the CDC that reanimation occurred anywhere between 3 minutes to 8 hours?

Amy died the night of the attack. She didn't turn until almost the end of the next episode. Rick and Shane wanted to burn the body but Andrea wanted to see the zombification happen.

That's what I thought. So basically the amount of time it takes for someone to turn doesn't matter in the least.

At first glance I'd agree. But I think this is more a product of shitty storytelling... at least in the more recent episodes. Earlier, it was clear that Rick was the one that made the difficult decisions. Now, it seems like they're more concerned with showing how difficult the decision is and how conflicted Rick is when trying to decide. In the end he just comes off as being an indecisive pussy, which I'm pretty sure that's not the effect they're going for. But based on how much they change characters' personalities in this show I'm guessing that Rick will soon be very different too. I think this might be the flaw in taking on a story with so much to cover in a 13 episode season and at the same time trying to slow it down to a character driven soap opera type drama. I think the first 2 seasons so far could've easily been edited to 1 and a half seasons and would like be even more entertaining.

Ever since 24 brought back what's her face who had been shot, covered in dirt, and then given the "this means you died" silent clock treatment, yes...

As others have said, Rick is an awful leader. If you really go back and look at all his movies and decisions since he got to teh group, they have caused the death of countless people.

Shane, on the other hand, kept them safe and wouldn't go out on needless adventures for no reason (Sofia, Merle, CDC).

Someone asked in the comic if Rick is this bad, the answer is yes. Although there was no CDC storyline in the comic or daryl/merle.

Not true. If they listened to Shane they would've gone to Ft. Benning which was overrun by zombies.

Also, in the comics, Shane wanted to stay at the campgrounds in Atlanta and wait for the military to rescue them. Needless to say, if they did that they would probably all be dead now.

I rewatched this again this morning before work and it was a very solid episode. I will be very
interested to see how they escape the horde of zombies. I would assume that Glen and Daryl
will head back to the farm after hearing that gun shot and they will all escape somehow. I
wouldn't be surprised if Hershel stays behind to "save" his farm but will send his daughters
along with the group. I haven't read any spoilers but that is just a guess. Where they go
from there I have no idea. Do they meet up with that other group of 30? Gonna leave a
lot of open questions.

Knowing nothing about the comics, my guess is that they will lose the farm in the next episode and be forced to flee. Like T-Bone, my guess is they seek out the other group of 30 since now they have nothing to protect other than their lives.

I assume that is when the Governor will make his first appearance.
