I love this game.

Only played it once so far. The Road to the Show is much improved over MLB 10 (didnt get it last year) and the franchise is a lot more involved.

Gameplay is cool


Started a franchise.

Cubs open against Nats. Strasburg.

He held me hitless thru 4 2/3. Garza gave up a solo shot to Adam LaRoche in the 2nd and another unearned (Soriano) run in the 4th. Marlon Byrd homered to tie it at 2 in the 6th. Garza gave up a sac fly. I brought in Volstead who gave up a run in 2 innings. Castro homered in the 8th to cut the lead to 4-3.

9th innning
Dejesus leads off with a walk. Castro Strikeout. LaHair beats out the game ending DP with a fielders choice. Soriano coming up with 2 outs...only two likely outcomes here.

I guessed right. Walk off Shot! Cubs Win! Dream Season!



Good game though for real

I'm not the biggest baseball fan but I love this series, I'm thinking about dropping my tax return on the vita and playing this on the go.

In my opinion, the MLB The Show series is the best sports series in history of video gamedom. I just wanted to say that.

I only play about 4 or 5 hours a week, but I am happy to say that my RTTS pitcher Monty Fontaine has made it to the Oriole bullpen.

We also have a 1B named Bobo Bones that the whole family plays with -- he has ups and downs. Some games it is 4 strikeouts, others it is 2 home runs, a double, and a flyout.

After dismantling minor league pitching for 2 years I finally got promoted and batted a clean .4OO with 42 bombs and 112 driven in while winning the ROY as a right fielder for the last place Jays. I'm currently only a few games into the next season but feverishly working on getting traded. I already got traded once in the minors.

I bounced around quite a bit coming up. I was 10-0 in AA, and spent all of 2 weeks in AAA before hitting the bigs. I think in AA ball I got traded twice. I also like the salary bump getting to the majors. 400k+ I can deal with.

I just locked up a 3 yr 1O Millions dollar deal. I didn't want to be signing anything other than 1 year contracts but they refused to talk to me unless I committed for 3 years. Assholes. They need to get a Boras feature for this game.

Im currently on the Angels starting at SS.

I struggled thru the Mets and Blue Jays systems then right as I was ready for the majors the Mets dealt me.


I love this game. Its actually addicting. Im going to have to start timing myself.

It was $40 at Walmart so I gave it a go...

Talk about resting on your laurels, they don't even pretend like anything is new.

and yet I still love it.

From my hazy memory of last-gen The Show games, being a pitcher is pretty fun RTTS. Unless you are a closer, in which case the AI manager will drive you to distraction. Still, nothing like winning ROY, Multiple CYs and eventually, Cooperstown.

Actually, I was suggesting NOT to be a closer

But I found a few things helpful (although, I'm sure quite a few things are different now)
Being a closer is brutal early in your MiLB career. blow a few games, and you will be in mop-up, and very hard to get points other than situational (get a double play, etc.) aside from a few holds. If they still have the option to request position changes, I think one year i started and built up alot of training points, then requested to become a closer. The double points for playoff appearances are huge.

Once you get to the Majors, try to get after Gagne's consecutive-save streak early in your career, MASSIVE points.

The fastest way to the majors is as a power hitting first baseman. You rack a ton of points up from every groundball. Rookie of the year in year 2

What pitches do you guys usually go with? I'm pretty much all power so I only have 3: FB, Change-up, Slider. As a RHP I'm getting killed by the lefties, I might need to add a two-seem FB or something...

I find its best to concentrate on Fastball velocity, then fastball control, then breaking pitch and its control

Dont waste your time on 3rd pitch til you have two real good ones

A splitter or cutter are the fastest non fastball pitches, I believe

I think I can get my sinker to 90 91, the cutter hits 97-99 consistently. The w.eird thing is that my changeup which i have not increased the speed in training hits in the mid 90's.

I didn't add a 4 seem until my 5th pitch. The cutter is a nasty and effective pitch.

If your cutter is 97-99 already, 90 is reasonable for a change. Not sure if it is the same, but last i played the Show in '11, adding points to Change Velocity actually makes the speed decrease.

I was trying to go for a Greg Maddux sort of pitcher... just maximize the control and movement, and not worry too much about the velocity. I got destroyed. That game frustrates me too much as a pitcher. I'm sticking with position players.

Even before I got my pitches perfected the cutter up and in produced alot of strikeouts. The slider was always out of the zone and the splitter always got crushed. The Cutter though was a 1 pitch wrecking machine.

Just like in real life, you need to strike people out to be effective....for the most part

I can't help but wonder how good I'd be at this game if I knew anything about baseball...

I would like to know why when I have 99 for control of most pitches and over 90 for all that when I am throwing to the other team's pitcher I have Dolis-like control. Pisses me off.

I just finished my 3rd year. I was in AA and AAA my entire first year and then a reliever at first in year 2 and have started in the majors for a year and a half.

Starting in the minor leagues helped a ton. The manager also never pulled me. I would have pitch counts up to 140 some games. I would get no less than 300 pts per start and sometimes up to 700. Throw in a few all star appearance bonus pts and the stats grow real fast. The stats also increase easier. For every 40 pts I spend I would go up 2-3 stat points where as with a position player I would have to cash out 80-120 pts just to move up 1 stat point.

I've gotten so many stat points now that I am working on making my pitcher a legit hitter.

I never altered it from whatever its set at. It has to be easy though as I am the 10th highest ranked starter in my 2nd big league year with a 1.83 era in over 200 innings.
