I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that he's going to be rather dominant. Even the usual Sox-hating suspects at BP can't find anything bad to say about him. The only question is how many innings he's going to get.

Quentin has spent about 2/3 of this "prime of his career" on the DL. Greg Oden is in the "prime" of his career too, but there are lots of other guy you would rather have on your team than somebody who seems to be snakebitten with injuries.

You're really overstating it, Frank. He averaged about 120 games a season with the Sox. I know he's not Ripken or Gehrig, but he isn't a guy that can't get on the field either. When he throws up a 140 OPS in a death valley for hitters this season, I'll be sure to point it out.

On the contrary, I think you are overstating it. When his team needed him down the stretch it 2008, he was gone, and gone in the playoffs. Maybe that Tampa ALDS ended up differently if he was on the field. When the team needed him most in 2009 he was nowhere to be found. He came back but it was at the end of the year when the Sox were out of it. Spent time on the DL in 2010 and 2011 too.

I think Quentin is a guy who is overloved and overvalued for sure. Maybe he'll prove me wrong about staying on the field. For the most part, the results are there when he is on the field, but he has been on the DL way too often. That was his problem with Arizona, with the Sox, and so far with the Padres as well.

Seriously, gonna have to watch that. Would be really dumb to fuck up that arm rushing him.

I hear people saying 160. Im not sure. That would be 125% increase

He got hurt in a pennant race. It happens.

I don't believe the Sox are really great at valuing their assets. There aren't many outfields that have two better guys than Swisher and Quentin on the corners and the White Sox gave both of them away. Yeah, GAVE THEM AWAY.

In Swisher's case it was because Guillen couldn't handle him in the dugout/clubhouse. And yeah, I know he had a bad year in Chicago. The only bad season he has ever had. That wasn't a reason to dump him for the lowest possible price after you traded a bunch of young pitching for him and he was under club control for a long time at a reasonable price.

I'm not sure who the prototypical White Sox offensive player is. In the Guillen era it was a guy who had difficulty getting on and when he did get on got erased in ill-advised steal attempts. We can only hope those days are over.

 C'mon man. Its not like his broke his ankle sliding into a base or something. He hurt himself by basically punching his bat. I've never seen that from a top slugger on a team fighting for a playoff spot.

I agree about the Sox selling low on some guys, but that really has nothing to do with Quentin getting hurt year after year.

i did not think the sox should have given konerko the last contract..i was wrong, he has not broken down and he continues to produce...if quentin has this much trouble staying healthy now there is virtually no chance his at bats increase when he hits 30 this year..after 30 he will be more brittle with each season..i think he has peaked ... i think sale gets injured if the sox try to get 150 innings out of him...but i think he won't get that chance..he is going to get rocked early and often and i see another 6 man rotation coming on the south side..maybe sale gets 110 innings

I never said he was smart. I still have trouble believing that slapped his bat story. To me it rings as true as Boozer tripping over his backpack.

I can see that more than the backpack, cut while eating an apple, or tripping over Bryan Robinson's dogs.

My roommate broke his scaphoid in a fall last Sunday. Hand/wrist was sore Monday, he worked Tuesday, lefty early because of the pain on Weds, got Xrayed/CT scan and found out it was broken on Friday.

Very deceptive info there.

I like Quentin but there were too many questions. If he was a juicer, then THOSE guys tend to get inured a lot. If his best numbers were because of the juice, then what would they be if he's off. I gotta a feeling the Sox know a lot more than we do and made a decision based on that. Not to mention- why risk having him on the roster and hurt on a bad team in rebuilding mode?

Im for trading everyone on the roster for the right price. This team is going to be a predictably boring station to station team. I love Robin for dumb fan reasons but he's got all the makings of a younger Gene Lamont.

Yawn.

Who will have the better year? CQ or Viciedo? I have no confidence in the free swinging/non walking Cuban.
