Uniforms make life easier, I think. They are cheaper, they make everybody almost the same, and there is no discussion about what to wear. My daughter is one of those kids that gets laughed at by other moms and old ladies in the grocery store. It'd be awesome not to do that somedays.

When I was a sophomore, I wanted to try out for basketball (PROVISO EAST, BABY!) but I had long hair and coach A.J. took one look at me and said, "Get out of here and come back when you get a haircut." A. You're lucky. Try having boys who grow 3-4" in a year....or play ball and shred every damn uniform they can.

B. Uniforms are cheap. Until your kids realize they want AF/Polo/Izod/etc. gear that conforms to the uniform standard...and the same brand clothes for after school.

D. There is always discussion....it just turns to shoes, eyewear, watches, backpacks

Man, it's the same bullshit they tried to pull in my day. If it ain't that piece of paper, there's some other choice they're gonna try and make for you. The old ladies aren't rude. They usually say I had one just like her. No shit, my daughter wore a striped shirt, a leopard vest, hot pink shorts, snow boots, with a glitter bag out and oversized sunglasses this week. It was a real head turner. Everybody asked if she dressed herself and told her she looked lovely.

If you're smart about it, you can fuck off in school almost as much as you want. Don't go to school drunk/high, don't curse at your teachers, do the bare minimum of homework/studying, and you will have a C maybe even a B average. I got A's and B's and still managed to fuck around a ton in high school.

That is what always amused about the "screw school, they can't tell me what to do" crowd. As soon as they "graduated" the same people they were sticking it to just moved on and really didn't care.
