This really has MUCH less to do with Mac than many of you think, but I could see how he would be in this situation.

Fact is when your contract is up, you have very little leverage at WSCR, or probably most places.

The closer your contract comes to it's final date the less leverage you have. I do know for a fact that many WSCR people have taken salary hits on their last days of employment. Basically they got put into a terrible situation and could have chosen to walk, but you need to work...so they took the deals. (none of these people were Mac)

If Mac wanted things changed and he just signed a new deal, now would be the time to try and get those deals.

Zimmerman is a tough guy to deal with and if you give him the upper hand, like you have 30 days left on your deal, do you really think you have a chance of getting more than 10% of what you wanted? If that being a raise or other perks? Most likely not.

The fact that ESPN and WSCR exist in this town, with some 720 AM bullshit thrown in, at least creates somewhat of a market for "on air talent". Outside of that, you take what they give you unless you can open your holes...or radio station.

I truely can't give you anything on this, but this would be a great ballsy move by Mac. WSCR is doing good, but a little kick in the ass never hurts and I have a feeling more WSOX games wont boost the ratings this summer like some might have thought years ago, especially v. a possible Bulls playoff run on ESPN.

Hawaii!!!

Wait, so Mac didn't need another contract? Without 670 he would have been just fine and dandy? Doing what, exactly?

So you know for a fact that Mac isn't pouting over a contract or the show or whatever similar things but if he was, in fact, doing just that it's totally cool because the iron is hot and thus he should strike?

Who are you, Larz?

Are you sure he doesn't have any mental health issues?
