Please explain to me when this guy became the dean of sports? and why?

For years he lived in Washington? (Not even sure)...but yet was always called upon for "Chicago Input"

He was like ESPN's Jim Belushi on every Chicago topic.

and now Silvy calls on this guy as if he is reaching the top of the mountain for all his sports answers?

Silvy calls you about everything?

It is hysterical listening to guys from local ESPN outlets kiss the asses of the national guys. Like "Maybe he will think I am cool and tell someone there about me"

Well, I meant that if you're known for talking sports w/ Kornheiser everyday, you're going to comparably seem "sports-smart".

If he did PTI w/ Good Dolphin, then nobody would remember Wilbon's number. :P   :aaargh: :bounce:

I think Wilbon has a local residence now too.

He splits time among DC/Chicago/LA? I think that's the deal since he left the Wash Post a year ago and signed on to ESPN full-time.

IDK about him living in Chicago or LA. I'm sure he still has a home in DC, and he has one in AZ. He is here a lot more now, though, so he might be shacking up w/ some south side skank here.

I've always liked Wilbon. While I think he is more knowledgable about sports than Tony, that show wouldn't work nearly as well if either was replaced.

It totally wouldn't. I think they're both great for different reasons. Wilbon is sports guy, Kornheiser is joke guy. Maybe 30 years ago TK was a sports guy, but now he's more worried w/ his golf game, American Idol & doing curls w/ 1 lb. weights.

Agreed. I watch PTI almost everyday after work and yesterday they had Kevin Blackistone on
instead of Wilbon. While the show wasn't horrible it wasn't as good as the original cast.

I've seen Kevin on the show before "PTI", and that's "Around the Horn" which also features host Tony "Stat Boy" Reali. It's not the same when Kevin, Dan LeBatard, Bob Ryan & other card-carrying "ESPN Sports Reporters" sit in for Wilbon & "Mr. Tony"...

It's not even a dislike for Wilbon. I do think he is knowledgeable, but he is still out of town stupid. Maybe less than others out of town, but never sure why Silvy needs to constantly reference what "Wilbon says".
