Consider yourselves warned. Wednesday, Spiegs is away for a day, and Jason Goff, on loan from "Boers & Bernstein", will join LoHo...

Meatpants deserves a day off from carrying Larry. Tagging in Goff to carry him for a show.

Larrys grandpa had some cool mitts. I was enjoying the Cubs talk today around 11-12. Of course any Cub talk and I'm usually listening. I'm one of the few on here who thinks Larry is not that bad. He has one of the toughest jobs working alone on his show. I do see how the complaints are valid. He does come across as a kiss ass and a guy who likes to talk about working out in the gym. When he has a sports thought though,he does a fine job.

LoHo is doing a good job on NBC as a sports anchor. This has to really eat at B&B I bet.

Because it reminds them they could never make it on TV because they are old, tired looking crabby men.

Okay. Laurence Holmes is my least favorite Score host since Andy Garcia...and dude was probably the worst in the history of the station.

Do you remember the early 90s when Dave Baum would fill in for Tom Shaer? Shaer was bad enough, but that was even worse. Jesse Rodger's "Sunday Morning Breakfast Grill" or whatever it was called was pretty bad, too. Bernsie used to have great Sunday morning shows and IIRC Jesse got the gig as Dan started getting more airtime during the week. People would preface their call by saying what they wanted for breakfast and he would play cooking sounds as if he were preparing it for them. I give him points for trying something different, but he's a bad radio host and about as sharp as a pound of wet liver.

To answer BR17's question, I listened for a few minutes today and heard Speigel mention that. I take it he's been mentioning it non-stop?

Agreed. Not a chance in the world that a Lawrence is the worst host in the history of a station that FEATURED Tom Shaer

On the voice side, professionally there was nothing wrong with Shaer. But the daily presentation of straw man arguments grew old, particularly when he would in turn windsock on his position. What was unforgiveable was his reading faxes and omitting words to change their context to agree with him. Plus, he wasn't from Chicago so his sports knowledge extended only to the '84 Cubs and whatever the team front office presented him.

Larry doesn't have Shaer's vocal chops and isn't clever enough or mentally strong enough to foist straw man arguments. More often than not he parrots whatever DB says.

You're reaching. I don't think either of them were ever interested in doing TV. Otherwise, they probably would be doing TV.

I remember seeing Terry as a guest on Chevrolet SportsFire years ago and saw Bernsie at least once on CLTV's SportsPage. I don't think they'd turn down the opportunity or the money if it were offered to them.

I saw Mac on SportsFire once in the early 90s. It must have been his first time on TV because he looked nervous as hell. He was sitting bolt upright in his chair and and sounded so tense and unnatural when he talked. It made his "Copper Pot" ad look like something that should be in the Smithsonian.

all the Score hosts were desperate for side TV work within a couple years of the beginning of the station. I remember some horrendous shows on the high numbered chicago cable channels. I was always surpised how freakishly ugly the radio and newspaper guys looked.

I thought that North's TV show back in the day was decent when he would have Mark Grace on for the Sox/Cubs series.
