Yep, I have tons of those types of bars around me where Blue Moon is the "high end" beer.

That's why I never purchase Blue Moon at stores.

Are you against "liming" a Corona?

Totally different. That is done to mask the skunk....however if you get corona out of the can or on tap the lime is not necessary as it tastes tremendously better. Why anyone puts beer in a clear bottle is beyond me. The orange in the Blue moon is to accent it or some shit like that.

I find your thought process to be counter intuitive, contradictory, somewhat prejudiced and definately poorly thought out. In other words I like it.

I've never seen Corona on tap. I think it sucks out of the can though. Lime + Corona = Good Stuff. I'm not sure what you have against it.

What's being poured at the Hawkeye Vince household:

- 3 Floyds Zombie Dust - just mindblowing - this has moved to the top of my list of favorite beers
- HopSlam - almost done with my take from this year's offering. Still in the picture of favorite beers, this years is a bit more mellow to me than the 2011 version.
- Homebrew: Irish Stout - almost finished with my recent batch of irish stout; was made with a kit from 2 brothers - definitely a quality product.
- Spotted Cow - friend just went to Wisconsin and brought me back 12.

What's fermenting:
- My first try at an IPA, built from a Surly's Furious recipe. It's fermenting in primary now - will move to secondary in about 3-4 days. The smell of the wort was awesome. Looking forward to it.

How did you get Zombie Dust??? Can't find it anywhere around here. And when they post they are selling it on site it is sold out in 3 hours. :x

Glad you are enjoying the homebrewing! It quickly goes from addicting to compulsive :drunken: If you haven't looked into it, joining a brew club is a great way to meet other brewers in your area. I think Silverado and UKG are the bigger ones in the western burbs.

Tried the new Two Brothers Seasonal- Monarch. Really nice. Reminds me a lot of Allegash White Ale. Very smooth and easy to drink. Recommend it.

I'll look around for brew clubs - one of my good buddies brews so we chat quite a bit - I'll look around and see what I can find.

As for Zombie Dust, I was lucky. I was travelling back from Lafayette, IN, saw a post from them on facebook, stopped in and grabbed a case.

I have yet to try Zombie Dust. Someone threw an empty cardboard case of it in my yard last week and it made me want some badly. May try it this weekend. So far, Darklord is the best by far and I like the Gumballhead as well. Behemoth is also tasty. 8) :drunken:

Economy brands are your friend. Coors Light/Bud Light are probably your best options. Bottles, not cans.

Unless you're wanting something slightly more refined. Sam Adams and Leinenkugel might be your next step up.

It really depends on the guest.

For sheep: Miller Lite
20/30-somethings: Bud Lite
40-somethings: Coors Lite
Hipsters: PBR of course
People that have a refined palate: SNPA
Old people: Bud or Old Style
Really old people: Old Milwaukee or Strohs

In conclusion the best beer to offer all guess is probably Sam Adams. It transcends all demographics and palates.

Also, not sure if anyone else feels the same, but the new aluminum bottles are horrible. For whatever reason the beer within goes flat a lot faster after it's opened.

Goose Island, Blue Moon, and Samuel Adams are some middle of the road every day beers for those who appreciate good beer.

It's always a good idea to keep some crappy beers (Miller Lite, Coors Lite, etc.) on hand for the riff-raff. Some of my friends are welcome to anything from my awesome stash of beers and booze, because the same offer is extended to me at their place. Some of my friends don't contribute much, so if they are gonna destroy my beers, it might as well be something that I don't want. Needless to say, it is obvious which friends get more invites to the crib.

Miller Lite is fucking swill. It's like watered down Milwaukee's Best.

To think there's 6 more rounds of "new bears" to put in this thread.

I've never had that particular one but have had Stone's and New Holland's offerings and they are interesting to me, but not something that could or would be a regular addition to my beer fridge. They go great with some BBQ but hard to drink by themseleves.
