Becomes oldest MLB pitcher to get a win...and having to come back from Tommy John surgery to do. Really great story, I hope he gets to pitch at age 50!

DENVER (AP)

Baseball's old man is still fending off Father Time.

Jamie Moyer showed there remains a place for a vintage lefty in a young man's game as the 49-year-old became the oldest pitcher to ever win a major league contest.

He threw seven strong innings and Dexter Fowler hit a two-run homer to help the Colorado Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 5-3 on Tuesday night.

Great story. I liked the stat from his previous start. He had started approximately 87 games or so before the opposing starter (Bumgarner) was born.

If ever someone could make a quiet 80 million plus dollars in their careers, Moyer is it.

Its a Once in a Lifetime event to see a guy get a win at age 49.

Moyer and Wakefield are similar pitchers in my mind with respect to durability and dependability. Neither was really dominant, but they will go out there every 5 days and give you 6 IP.

Moyer had a few years in there where he was in the Cy Young talk. The guy has won 268 games over 26 seasons. I wish current Cubs pitchers could win 10 games a year.

I like when people get up in arms about who is or is not in the HoF. Does it really matter? I love baseball and could not give two shits about the HoF entrants/non-entrants.

ok lemme have a look at his numbers....never remember this guy being an elite pitcher for even one season

ok...99 = nothing great
the other 2 seasons very good...so 2 very good years and one pretty good year in 30 years...not a stellar career ..but longevity will get him in.

He'll probably get in but be dead before the mandatory five-year waiting period is over.

actually seattle has a huge home field advantage..the travelling wears guys down.... ichiro is a hall of famer no doubt..would go down as one of the best baseball players all time if he came to the mlb when he was younger..... felix h is outstanding and already won a cy young...if you are great you get noticed

Who cares about the Hall of Fame? There are so many undeserving players in there, who gives a fuck.

Its should just be the Cooperstown Museum

I think if in 50 years someone was touring a baseball museum, a Jamie Moyer plaque would be cool for people to read about.

Obviously, he's not close to an elite player how the hall of fame was originally intended

I think a baseball museum is better. There are a ton of guys in sports who werent elite but were vital and a big part of the leagues history

Isn't it already something like that though? I mean, you always hear about stuff being given to the Hall of Fame for them to display and it often has nothing to do with a hall of fame player.
