Looking at all of these picks they probably could have traded down a handful of spots and still gotten him and some additional picks.

I'm really pissed at the continued neglect of the ol. They had a sure thing or a highly thought of tackle and instead they took a middle of the road rated dl.

It sure seems like they were unprepared once Irvin Ingram and cooled went off the board

Agreed that they should have traded down if this was "their guy". Stupid.

If I was going to completely gamble on someone in the first round I probably would have gone after Fleener and not Shea.

The goofs on the Score webstream keep saying we all need to trust Emery because he knows more than we do.

I mean this is a project player, right? They are going to run him out there at DE at 260lbs with 19 reps, against NFL lineman. I'm cool with that if we were a 3-4 team. But even then, not at #19, unless the rest of your team was no shit complete.

A fucking project in the first round. They do not even remotely have the luxury of doing that.

The Bears are not viewing him as a project. They view him as their starting left DE.

@CharleyCasserly Shea McClellan looked smooth and agile during drills, reminds me of Karl Mecklenberg with his versatility & measurables

It would not have mattered who the Bears selected you were going to shit on it. So your opinion around here is worthless

Mecklenberg was solid.

25 years ago in a different league.

It kind of HAS to be about trusting Emery. This is why he was hired. If McClellin sucks ass, then it's in his lap. If he's awesome, we all look like fucking negative assholes.

Not at all. I am not one of the guys standing on the edge ready to fire Emery.

It was not what I expected, but there is no way to judge this right now.

If he starts and plays all 16 games, the pick is fine.

Didn't Mark Sanchez start and play all 16 games last year?

For the Bears, its a big improvement. Who was the last 1st rounder to make it more than 4 games?

Everyone has missed the obvious.

Lovie is done after next year and the Bears will hire a coaching staff to run a 3-4 defense.

Praise Emery!

Trust authority. Phillips has an excellent record of hiring and the rest of the front office has only caused the team to be undervalued by almost a billion dollars according to forbes
