Agreed. We don't know whether he will be a bad player. But given the status of the draft board and how many teams had already reached for players, he was a bad pick. Don't make me explain value-via-baconator again.

If he ends up as a good player, its a good pick.

I was suprised by the pick. I like the fact he was being targeted by the Pats and the packers because they can scout. Almost everyone except Hub had him going in 1st round, that is why he was there. For those saying he cant be a good end in 4-3 at 6-3 260# should ask the 6-1 260# dwight freeney about that. He is fast and if he is strong enough he can be a real threat. Not saying he is a pro bowler, but not a bad pick IMHO.

Good to know it's all still rainbows and unicorns with RFDC I'd like to visit him sometime.

I'm still confused. I was really happy that Reiff, DeCastro, Hightower and Mercilus were still there. Then there was a WTF? moment after it was announced. I take comfort that GB & NE liked him. I like some of the things I've read about him. It sounds like he doesn't really fit the scheme but that might turn out to be a good thing too I guess. I don't know much about him, he wasn't what I was looking at. I'm still figuring it out now. I don't like they said he can contribute on special teams. That's just dumb.

The Chargers Broncoed me by taking Ingram. I would have really liked DeCastro but we have enough Gs. Would have liked to have gone with Reiff, I think. We shall see.

The new Trace Armstrong and Peppers on the field at the same time will be exciting. I would like the Bears to take care of the secondary though.

I'm may be the only person that doesn't believe the Bears need to address the offensive line early in the draft. I think their guys will be fine. I saw a lot of things I liked prior to Cutler and Forte getting injured. Especially in the running game. I'm fine with Spencer and Lance Louis playing guard. Hell I would be fine with Louis playing tackle. I trust Tice.

I think I'm going to avoid the Bears section, at least it terms of draft talk because there is lots of bad.. Lots of 'experts' He's played zero NFL downs and the panic level among some is hilarious.

What happened to the Bears could address 1 of like 6 positions and everyone would be happy?

Nope Bears front office have felt that way for the better part of a decade. It need an LT, badly, IMO.

The Packers and TT usually keep things very secretive in regards to their draft intentions and how they have players ranked yet they let it be know that they were very interested in Shea. I find it hard to believe that leaking that information wasn't done for a specific reason. I would think that they found something they didn't like and wanted to bait other teams into taking him ahead of them so the guys they had ranked higher fell to them.

I found this on him...I think it was from cbs sports. I don't see any huge red flags with this but...maybe it was some of these reasons or his extensive concussion history that led to the smokescreen TT put up with him.

Quote:
"Weaknesses: Not a quick-twitch player and lacks natural explosion -- not an elite athlete. Has only average functional size and strength, lacking the natural power and length to overwhelm blockers at the next level. Too energetic at times and often over pursues his target -- can be overaggressive and take himself out of the play. Lacks a natural position for the next level and won't be at his best if he's locked into one spot."

I am hoping that the line will show improvement just by Martz being fired. That being said, when Reiff fell, I think the Bears should have pulled the trigger. I think a solid LT is all the Bears are really missing on that line.

Maybe. I don't like the 4 concussions.

the bears had big needs at LT and DE (among others). they don't really need another guard.

Bears actually have pretty good guard play with Spencer and Louis. But this is why I thought they would have taken Reiff.

I agree with this. Webb playing left tackle is still terrible though.

Also, Garza is getting long in the tooth. Probably lucky if you get another year or 2 out of him.

The guys measurbles are great.

Player A: 4.72 40 yd dash, 13 bench press reps, 33 inch vertical, 120 inch broad jump, 7.11 3 cone drill, 4.34 20 yd shuttle (6'6, 240)

Player B: 4.63 40 yd dash, 19 bench press reps, 31.5 inch verical, 118 inch broad jump, 7.07 3 cone drill, 4.33 20 yd shuttle (6'3, 260)

Player A is Jared Allen, B is Shea. No one on the DLine save Peppers can do what he does at .55 here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBo1St4vArc

Does this mean he'll be great? No. Could he suck? Absolutely.

As long as he doesn't do that dumbfuck 'rope a calf' dance after a sack.

If he's getting 10plus sacks a year, I don't give a fuck what he does to celebrate. Throw up a Degeneration X suck it for all I care.

Not a single bit of panic.

Like Rick wrote yesterday, you seem to not want to analyze the draft as no player has played a down. That's fine and logical but why come here to talk about it at all?

Jared Allen was a 4th round pick.

Exactly. Everyone needs to put down the guns & razor blades. The experts who want to fire Phil Emery are just hilarious. Superfans indeed.

Remember, the Bear go 13-3 this year & play the Niners in the NFC Championship game, & Lovie gets a 3 year extension.
