Tell me where I said nobody should talk about the players. I started 2 of the threads about the players, so if anything I encouraged it.

Again, unwinnable pissing contest, I'll just stand down and we shall live in the Age of the Dolphin.

The age of dolphin is well past on this board and I'd respect you less if you stood down. This is hardly a pissing contest for this place.

Do you only want positive statements? Do you think the offensive line is okay as is?

dolphin, you have traditionally be one of the best and more reasonable voices regarding the Bears. Why have you decided to go king of the meatballs lately?

Fair enough, fair enough. I have yet to experience what this place truly offers, but it is The Shark Tank for a reason.

That being said, I hope the Bears go 15-1 and win the title, just so I can quote the shit out of the Fire Emery thread.

How is dolphin being a meatball? He's been spot on for the most part.

It's so rare. He should be recognized for it.

This is the type of player that should not be drafted given the Bears track record on injured players. I can see it if he has great talent but no way you should be drafting guys that "might" be O.K. health wise especially when there is a chance to add depth with a non-health risk.

How many football players make it to this level without some type of injury?

The guy had a couple broken bones. That is way different than a bad knee or screwing up your back that continues to linger.

Not positive, just reasonable. If you hate a guy, say why. Brandon Hardin being another safety in the 3rd round? Not a reasonable argument for why he's bad.

And shit no - I was one of the many who wanted DeCastro at 19 and was WTF about McClellin. I kept an open mind, did more research on him, and came away pleased. (<-- that's going to be in the innuendo thread, but I can live with it)

Webb is not a good starter at LT, I'm guessing they're going to give Williams the ultimatum to move to the outside and contest Webb for the job. LG is going to be between Chilo Rachal and Edwin Williams/whatever FA/rookie they bring in, C is Garza with Edwin Williams/Chris Spencer able to back him up, RG is between Spencer and Louis, RT is Carimi and Louis/whatever FA/rookie they bring in.

The Bears will ultimately fill out the offensive line with guys who may have us all going "What the fuck is this slop?" but they believe in Tice's ability to improve these guys, and while it's not the most comfortable situation, I think we've all experienced worse Bears lines in our time.

We'll agree to disagree on this RFDC. I was just hoping the days of injury draft picks were over.

As I have said The Fire Emery thread was ready to go well before the draft. I think someone also posted one about 15 minutes after he was hired. He has received nothing but praise for his free agent period moves

A disagreement is not a pissing contest. Look at a Boilermaker Rick or Rogers Park Brian thread, those are pissing contests

Nobody said he was bad. It's the second pick I don't understand. There was a LT on the board and they took an injured safety that most people weren't even looking at for us. How is that unreasonable?

The offensive line is bad, not unreasonable for me to want it addressed. At least try.

They have a few more picks in the draft, one of which I'm sure they'll use on a offensive linemen since basically everything else has been addressed. Plus Hardin isn't injured. He was injured, and now is healthy.

I have been pretty clear and deep in my concerns about the picks, but ultimately understand they are guys with talent. Hardin is a guy being tracked at cbfans.net for several weeks and the Bears brought him in for a visit, so this is not some unknown quantity. Injuries should have forced him into the 4-5 round range.

The complaints are based in there being top talent at more important positions or better talent at equally important positions. Take the 3rd round. I would have loved the CB from VT who only dropped because of passing a drug test. I would have liked Massie, but something may be up with him. I would have liked the DT from Clemson. All three of those positions are a bigger problem than safety.

I agree for the most part, sans the CBFans.net reference.

You are kidding, right?

CB features a 31 year old with a long injury history, a midget who they benched in favor of a busted pick and a journeyman.

DT features Paea who is still an unknown quantity, Melton, who doesn't look like he can be an every down player and Toenaia who is a journeyman

LB is woefully thin

TE- could use a pass catcher

I don't think there is much left at OT. C might be the place to look as Garza is in his mid 30s and playing on no cartilege.

In short, there are plenty of areas to address

CB's on the roster: Tillman, Jennings, Hayden, Moore, Wilhite. With only a few draft picks left I don't expect them to take a corner, but they should take a DT. You're mostly on point with Melton and Toeaina not being the best options as starters, but Idonije will float inside from time to time, and if Wooton's capable of playing for more than 30 seconds without getting hurt, they could use him as an outside rusher while Peppers moves inside on rare occasions.

LB isn't totally set yet with Urlacher, Briggs, Roach, Hayes, Thomas, Constanzo, DeCicco, and Trahan there, but as to who of them past Hayes will make the roster is unknown.

TE is relatively acceptable, with Spaeth, Davis, and don't forget Kyle Adams was a guy they really liked last year who should get a shot to make the roster this year.

So while yes, there are positions of need, there's only so much cap room, draft picks, and roster space available to get guys that are "names." We're all going to have to keep an open mind with some of these guys who make up the team's depth, which could be really hard considering I doubt we'll have heard of many of them.

I'm approaching this draft as what are we doing next year after Lovie is gone? How do these picks limit us going forward? I really think more people should look at it that way because Lovie will be let go after this year. They were forced into his scheme this year, but anything is possible after that.

Maybe they didn't take Massie because some projected him to be a RT.

How about Zebrie Sanders?
