I've got to give the guy some props. He has managed to stay healthy all year, which has been one of the big things against him his whole career. He's the only guy on the roster to start every game.

Now hopefully he can show up for the playoffs.

There's a Carlos Boozer mult (parody) twitter account, which I am 99% sure is owned by the Jalen from Rosemont guy, and all he does is say thing like that.

Yup.

I think Boozer has redeemed himself this year so far. All the things people complain about him are just "Boozer" things that come with the territory. He's been as good of a defender and rebounder as he'll ever be. I'll take it. And offensively, he has been stellar. There have been times where he single-handedly kept them in games this year.

They gave the guy $80M to be productive when it matters. He's still not a guy that can be trusted to be on the court when the game matters. When he decides to show up for big games then I'll be willing to pat him on the back. So far he's shown that he can't.

As long as he shows up in the playoffs, this season should be looked at as a big one for him...

When it matters?

And you guys are conveniently forgetting that this guy was hurt during the playoffs last year, right? Mentioning that doesn't fit the "bash Boozer" narrative.

My biggest knock on Booz has been his defense. He's trying and playing D 100% better...but hes still bad at it. As long as he gives it effort i can live with it. Just put down 18-22 pts and 10rebs every damn game

We'll get to see this year too. Many times during this season he was so ineffective that he needed to be benched the majority of the 2nd half and he's never on the court at the end of games because he's a defensive liability. I expect more from a guy that's being paid to do more.

yep. No reason at all to give this guy any praise until he proves he can do it in the playoffs vs big physical defenders and shot blockers.

His defense has been better, and his post passing has been really good.

I think he must have realized his own physical limitations this year, and has honed his jumpshot instead of using ineffective moves toward the basket. Of course you'd rather have a guy that can take it to the hole but at least he's been an efficient scorer.

That being said, in the 4th quarter against the Heat I still want Taj Gibson.

hes been awesome this year. he definitely doesnt think much about defense, but he scores in bunches and is an excellent teammate. you can tell he likes playing in chicago.

i find it pretty shocking how many character guys we have. garpax didnt just go after talent, they went after makeup too. i can hear danny bitchstein saying right now "but makeup doesnt win titles". but apparently changing your name to world peace and getting suspended for assult 1/4 of the playoffs does. oh shit i said his name, a free plug for the human bobblehead ahhh! whatever.

Amnesty his dead ass.

Or if Jerry won't eat that money, is there any other team out there that would want to swap terrible contracts? Amare for Boozer? Rashard Lewis expires next year, I think. Just throwing out ideas...

Two much money to eat

Dont think the Knicks are ready to give up on Amare

Dont think the Bulls will trade Boozer

They might Amnesty him after next year.

Carlos Boozer was exactly the type of player that we were(are) ever going to get out of him. I still feel he had a strong season throughout, just not toward the end of the playoffs. Unfortunately, that is really where talent and effort are needed the most in the NBA.

Bulls won't amnesty Boozer's contract this summer. They're not going to walk away from a player and still pay him $30 million. If a team like New York, LA, or Memphis are dumb enough to take on his contract then so be it. Otherwise we are stuck with him for at least another season... and that's actually not horrible.

The real question is what the Bulls should do with Taj Gibson at this point. If they keep him on the roster, does he become your sixth man now? Does he start over Boozer (not likely)? He'll likely never have higher trade value than right now, so do they shop him around a bit in an effort to get a viable backup PG or starting SG?

After failing two years in a row to get to the Finals, everything should be on the table. GarPax failed this year to get viable alternatives in case something like this happened and it bit them in the ass.

Package Taj with anyone to get help for this team. Package Noah, Deng, Brewer, whomever. I don't want this Bulls team to be 1990's-era Knicks.

I don't necessarily disagree, however who are the Bulls willing to depart with while not shooting themselves in the foot? Nobody is going to take Deng because of his wrist status, even following surgery. Even so, I don't feel the Bulls need to unload Deng at this point. I understand he was an All-Star because of Rose, but he's still your second/third best player on the team.

Let's not overreact here. A move (or moves) need to be made, but this roster does not need to be gutted. This team would be nowhere if they didn't have Taj, Noah, Deng, Brewer, and others. They lost their best player in the playoffs and another good player went down shortly after, a first round loss would probably happen to anybody in that situation. What do you think would happen if Kobe went down for the Lakers in Game 1, and then Gasol went down in Game 3?

Exactly the same thing that's gonna happen to them in Game 7.

Amazing how one game can tear down the solid year he had.

He had a solid regular season, but he didn't show up in the playoffs the way I thought he would when I defended him. I went all in on Boozer going into this Philly series. He had one good game. Not good enough.

You can lump Kyle Korver in this mess as well. He was weak sauce in the playoffs this year as well as last year. Seems the ex-Utah players don't show up in crunch time.

In the four games of the Philly series, Thibs made some questionable decisions that impacted the play of many of the names mentioned in this thread. For example, I'm not saying Korver played well, but he also wasn't used as often as he may have been in the regular season. If I remember correctly, he was also on the floor at the same time as Rip Hamilton a few games, which to me was questionable (since they are essentially the same off-screen player).

All-in-all, once Rose went down the whole thing became a huge mess. Benching Watson and Brewer in Game 3 was also weird.

Korver was completely ineffective because Philly blanketed him the entire time he was on the floor. He couldn't get free once Rose went down because help wasn't needed to defend any other position on the floor after that.

Yep. I don't know why people expect Kyle Korver to be anything more than the various 3-point specialists the Bulls had throughout the 6 championships. If Jordan's not playing, Steve Kerr isn't getting open. I think Korver actually has to work a lot harder to get his shot than guys like Kerr/Buechler/Hodges did, as a function of the different offenses.

Kyle Korver was a non-factor in this series. In just over 5 minutes of action last night, Korver had a big goose egg. There's a really good chance the Bulls say goodbye to Korver in the offseason because of the team's financial structure.

Boozer & Deng were the two guys you would hope to take up the offensive slack. Everyone else that is left is just supporting players.
