Running backs are making it back from ACL surgery and are still successful. Let's hope Rose gets back to 90%.

1. Not in a year! and if it takes him one solid year that means he would come back to start the playoffs in 2013? Just a bad bad call. Even though I am sure the story will be there as I see Rose wanting to play.

2. In reality I see him starting the 2014 season and while I can see him playing well, I dont see the ACl and MCL coming back 100% to give him what he once had.

3. Rose could turn into a great true PG, which other teams would value highly! But this evaluation would not be complete until after the 2014 season.

4. 2015, Rose is the player I think he is going to be, which could be a similar Jason Kidd, which is still a very good player, but not the best player on your team, you need to look to move him and get that high draft pick.

5. Charolette, Bulls and need that oen other pick to make it worth it!

6. There is no way you can't make your team better with 2 or 3 top ten picks! No Way!

I think watching Adrian peterson will be a nice test. Explosive, Fast etc and he had an ACL tear and MCl sprain, so less than rose. I know they have him at 5-6 months to return, but we will see how long to be good again.

He isnt back until 2014 and who knows how good he will be even then. His game is quickness, stopping, elevation etc. No way a surgery can get him back to what he once was. He will still be good, but is not going to be the scoring machine he was, so you just gave Max money to Jason Kidd.

2015, they trade him for a high pick to someone as he will have one year left on his deal, they will have their own high pick due top be being bad after trading rose and then have the Bobcats 1st rounder, which you know will be a good pick!

3 picks, top 12? So now I need to project the nations top juniors in HS...and we ened right back at Simeon!

Rose will be fine and that Kidd comparison is terrible

Guess you missed a D rose in a NCAA Championship game v Kansas and I think he won a state title scoring 2 points"?

Seems many agree with the Comparison, FF did you ever see J Kidd in a McD's HS All American game? I did and this guy ran up and down the court at a speed way ahead of everyone else, he drove to the basket when he wanted. At Cal he did the same thing. Was a great Scorer and Assist guy. A GREAT Assist guy.

So how is this a terrible D Rose comparison?

Because they are totally different players. Kidd never came close to having Rose's explosiveness or scoring ability and Rose definitely doesn't have Kidd's court vision or overall feel for the PG position. They are just completely different.

And this whole premise is silly for a couple reasons. First, we have no idea if he can come back 100% or not. Everyone saying he will never be the same really has no clue. Second, the Bulls are one of the deepest, youngest, and best teams in the league right now. Without Rose they are still a top 6-7 team do there's no reason to think they would suddenly be terrible without him.

Do you really think that? So much of his game has been moving quickly to the hoop with the ball. I can't imagine that he won't lose at least some of that ability. It seems to me the very attributes that made him great are in jeopardy with this injury. I didn't think he could play the way he did for very long anyway, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise that it happened as soon as it did. I could completely see him being like Jason Kidd. That wouldn't be the end of the world either. Kidd is a no doubt Hall of Famer.

Kidd is one of my favorite players ever, but him and Rose are nothing alike.

I'm not convinced Rose will never be the same and I think anyone who is is either overly pessimistic or just gullible and listening to the wrong people. If 7 footers and NFL RBs can come back as strong as ever after ACL surgery than I have faith that Rose, 24 and one of the best and hardest working athletes on the planet, can also.

they won't be terrible....they'll just be in NBA hell
a middle of the road team that will still beat bad teams and get an occasional win against a top tier team, but one that isn't going to do anything in the playoffs beyond the first round

Watch this and honestly try and tell me you dont see any similar style of play between a young Jaosn Kidd and D Rose?

No doubt a better passer, but these goes are so similar, even Douchebag might agree with me.

i think if you can trade him in the last year of his deal for a top 5 pick, i'd do it
you're right, we don't have any idea if he can come back 100% but i'm thinking there's more of a chance he won't than he will
like you said, they've still got a lot of good pieces on the team...if you can get a top pick for Rose plus have the Bobcat pick, you have a decent shot at rebuilding that way.

It depends on what we do between now and then. That never happened to the Spurs despite Duncan's decline. Boozer is making max money, put that to use somewhere else, develop Taj and Asik and try to make a 3:1 or 2:1 trade. Either way I'll be shocked if we are one of the 12 worst teams in the league in 2016 if we are making predictions today, which was part of the ridiculous scenario offered by bigfan.

I'm genuinely shocked you think that. There's no chance I would consider trading Rose until he proved he was a step slower.

Why is everybody acting ACL surgery is a career ender? This isn't 1970 anymore. Rose will fly to Germany and back and be suited up for Miami in the ECF in a few weeks.

Yeah, Jerry would never tank a season for a team that might have chance of winning something, especially one that you got financial relief and a high compensation pick. Would never happen.

FF the fact you can't see that ACL reconstruction has an effect upon the human body, especially one that is reliant upon not just above average quickness, but the quickest of reactions is amazing.

Odds are not great that he comes back with the quickness that makes him elite in that Dept. He might be a smarter player, better shot, better passer and everything else, but odds are good he will not be as explosive. Which for others might be OK, but his game is the explosiveness.

I do not doubt he will do everything possible to get back to what he was, but odds are not in his favor.

 What exactly can be do about it? Not let one of the best coaches in the league coach and then not play the 5 best guys all season? This team can win 45 games next season with Rose and the next best guy out.

I never said it has no effect. Of the two of us I'm not the one making ignorant, absolutist statements. I think Rose will still be one of the best players in the league when he gets back. If somehow he morphs into one of the two best pure PGs ever upon his return that'd be gravy too I guess

Didn't Jamal Crawford tear his ACL when he was a Bull?

He seems to have gotten better since.

That pretty much describes Kidd, doesn't it?

Rose was a special player. He relied on a quickness that few players have ever displayed. Iverson is probably his best comparison, but he was like a bigger, stronger version. I don't think anyone is saying his career is over or even that he'll never be an All-Star, but I think it's overly optimistic to believe he will return as the kind of explosive oddity that he was.

I think non-explosive Rose is more Tony Parker style than Jason Kidd.

He's on his way to becoming a better 3-point shooter than Parker though, and hopefully he continues to develop that.

So here we are, 1 year closer to my 2016 call!

2013 is a write off, that you can't deduct! So now we end up at 2014 with a ton of money for.....

Who is the big catch in 2014 with all this money?

Then Rose gets pissed and lets someone know, TRADE MY ASS TO LA! Off season deal moving D Rose to LA. Bulls get more draft picks to go along with their new PG, M teague! and Shabazz!

They just might have to resign Deng! He might be the best player available after 2013!

So JBills which is it?

Bulls gonna suck and rebuild for 2016 or are they deep and young?

Or are you just a fool?

If D Rose is not GREAT, they can start to rebuild

Hey Biggie, if you actually read the board, you'd know I've been saying next season is a lost cause for 2 months now...

I guess this is the type of shit that happens when you turn your back on your close close friends because your brother who was also protected by these friends tells you to.

Um.......what?

People talk in this city. Rose was protected by 2 close friends. They took care of him when he was down, always had his back, making sure nobody ever fucked with him. They made a pact with one another that if one of them got famous or rich they would take care of the other. I'm not talking like casual friends either, I'm talking about guys that grew up with Rose when he was a kid riding bikes in the streets. 3 guys that were close and 2 of them were just up and left after years and years of friendship because Derrick's older brother told him to cut them out of his life. Now he can't or won't come back into the same neighborhood as he grew up in. He's that hated. Maybe this is karma catching up to him.

FWIW I have heard this same story from more than a few people that knew Derrick before he made it.

I'll take that Karma. Rose has 300 million coming to him over the next 10 years in shoe and Bulls money. The friends he dumped will probably always be poor. Karma? No. It's a knee injury cuz he plays sports. That happens.

By the way, there are probably 2 sides to this. These guys might be gang members or druggies. I wouldn't expect Rose to help them even if he rode bikes with them when they were kids. C'mon. Sell crazy some place else. I girl in 2nd grad told me she loved me. When I grew up I never held her to that and made her marry me. This isn't a Disney movie. We live in the real world.

probably the most intelligent thing this man ever posted. ever.
