As long as I get to be the Necromancer. Cant wait for this release, even more than Half Life 3.

No, surely I do not. But after some quick google research, I may or may not have seen that cover before. I think I'll have to pass... I'm not the biggest RPG fan out there...

You will love it. Guaranteed. There are RPG elements to it like gear and stats but nothing that you have to min/max every detail in order to progress. Its just fun mindless killing of waves of enemies and looting :D

I think there is a free demo of Torchlight out there somewhere. Play that for an hour and you'll get a good idea of what Diablo is about.

I've got some bad news for you...

I guess it wont surprise me if no necromancer. I took full advantage of having a mini-army. It took quite a bit of time to build up the experience in the early levels, but it was worth it as you progressed in 2. The trainer also helped a lot. After I beat the game, I figured I would go nuts with both the Barbarian and the Necromancer.

Cool.

The videos in 2 were very well produced. Really setup the gameplay well. Hoping for the same type of impacts with 3.

Dibs on the Witch Doctor or Monk. Having only very casually played Diablo's and that's a long time ago, are healing classes important? During my nerd World of Warcraft days, I had a beastly priest who I loved to raid with

No, Diablo games don't require the usual group RPG archetypes. In Diablo II, you couldn't really even heal others besides auras and such. Various classes play well off each other, and its always better to mix it up than to have all of one class...but you don't need to worry about a mandatory "heal" or "tank" build.

Generally speaking, your items should do all your healing. But there were almost always potions after a decent battle, so grabbing them and healing/mana recharge was a very very frequent option.

My buddies who have played the beta have had nothing but great things to say. I'm going to get the game, but I'm trying my best not to hold it to the standard of Diablo II, one of the greatest computer games of all time.

My biggest fear is how/when the human factor comes into play, as in how long until the great influx of humanity comes in and discovers a loophole glitch, duping, or setting up some other standard of game currency.

Diablo 2 had the trainer that I believe a lot of people used initially to build up in multiplayer. After a while things improved.

I do admit I haven't played WoW or any MMORPG's. I like single player games for the most part and FPS's, even though those are fading fast.

Can you play cross-platform?

I'm probably not going to get this, I don't like playing games on my computer, there's no comfortable position for me to lay/sit in and still be able to use a laptop.

Do you think this will ever come out on console?

That's cool, I was talking about mac and pc being able to play together. Didn't know that even existed.

They should really come out with Diablo 2 as a downloadable game for PS3 and XBox. I never played it on the pc and would love the chance. I bet its better than Torchlight even though its much older.

Still, my favorite games on PS2 were the Champions series. I love those isometric hack n slash rpgs.

edit: Just play D2 on your computer. You'd be able to run it. :)

I wish I could. The only way I can play a game on my computer is to sit in a chair and I can't really sit in a chair that long because of my back. Laying down is pretty much my only comfortable position so if I wanna play a game its gotta be on the tv. Sucks cause I've missed out on a lot of great games, especially FPS which for some reason I can play on a computer, but get violently nauseus after 10 minutes of playing it on a console (except borderlands..for some reason that didnt make me sick).

Curiously, where would I download D2 for my mac? Maybe I'll give it a look and play it in really small doses.

When november downloaded it a couple years ago for his Macbook, I believe he just used the downloadable client straight off of Blizzard's site...I believe the downloadable client has the installer for both MacOS and Windows.

Diablo II + Lord of Destruction still costs $20.00 though. :)

If you get the DIII collector's edition, D2/LoD are included with your purchase, for what it's worth.

IMU, when you bought your copy, did they just email you an activation key or something?

My copy of what? Diablo 3? Blizzard games store your CD-Keys under your Account Management when you log into http://battle.net. I'm not sure if my D3 key appears there yet.

Gotcha. I haven't even setup a Battle.net account yet, or if I did it's been years since I've logged into it.

I played the beta and I couldn't get used to the old way of moving with the mouse and the fixed point of view at first. I'm so used to keybindings and turning the camera with the mouse. It was ok for a beta. I wasn't overly blown away or stunned by the game but you could only go so far and the servers kept going down. I messed around with a monk and a barbarian. Didn't have time for the other classes. 2 weeks away!

Do you guys play this on a laptop? If so, do you plug a mouse in to play or do you use the trackpad?

It looks like its gonna come out on the consoles, maybe even this year. I'm just gonna wait and hopefully that will happen. From what I hear, Blizzard isn't too reliable with rumors like that, but apparently this came directly from the CEO so I'm optomistic.

I went to install the downloader/set-up package. It wouldn't take on my iMac. I found out I need to upgrade OS X to Snow Leopard. I was only running Leopard....

So I ordered Snow Leopard this morning, but I won't get that until next week. I guess that negates the free copy of Diablo 3 I got for signing up for the annual wow pass.

Installation has been a pain in the ass. Have had two installations fail from firewall blocks.
