Okay. You can have A-Rod straight up vs. Dunn for a $100. Are you game?

No.

We'll take a vote of a 100 sports fans and ask them who is the most consistent power hitter in the AL - ARod or Dunn? I say at least 51 say A-Rod.
$100. Are you game?

You're looking silly here. I'm not interested in the wrong ideas of 100 sports fans who know less than I do. You don't have as much faith in your opinion as I do in mine. That's clear.

Calling Spanky's 100 hypothetical sports fans! The first one of you who is a real guy and wants to put up a hundo on A-Rod vs. Dunn for homers this year, let me know.

You changed topics, not me. You went from who will win the AL HR title to "who is the most consistent power hitter in the league"?
I'm just following your lead.

I'll say $100 straight up - Dunn doesn't lead the AL in HR's at the end of the season. I'll even throw you a bone and include a T-1 as a win for you.

Now why would I do that? I could get odds. The reason I think Dunn has a good chance to lead the league is that of the two guys that one might say have been just as consistent, one has ZERO homers and the other hasn't hit over thirty for a few years. I'm not going to make a stupid bet, but I will bet Dunn straight up vs. the guy you are insisting is more consistent.

I quit.
I said I would say him if he isn't out for the next several weeks, reading is a skill.

I also showed the #3 and #4 HR hitters in the AL last year are behind Dunn so far this as....as is the HR champ from the last TWO seasons in the AL! Its a good thing you quit after I showed you whats up.

And Dunn hit a rocket into RF as I was typing this

Then sharpen up your reading skills, champ. (and stop recycling Mac's lines already).
I asked for 3 possibilities, he was one of the 3 you listed. You didn't list anybody else.

Soon as you stop stealing Jurko's.

If I had said any of those names at the beginning of the season, nobody would have given a second look to any of them; except Dunn and he's proving day in and day out that he is back. Which is the point of this thread anyway.

It's not a crazy prediction. Dunn is going to be among the AL home run leaders. Whether he leads the league or is in the top three or five, I can't say. But he's going to be in the mid-30s minimum. Barring an injury, of course. That may not top Hamilton playing in a hitter's paradise. There's no advantage to me making a bet that he'll lead the league at even money.

I just started the thread so Frank will have a place to remind you every time he crushes one.

U.S. Cellular isn't close to being Texas. Ask Rudy Jaramillo.

I'm pretty sure that's not how you rate a ballpark. The teams do have different lineups, don't they?

What?

Who else has hit 40 homeruns six times and 38 a couple more? Lots of guys have a bad year. I know Dunn's was incredibly awful, but you seem to be eager to use it to define his career in spite of the fact that his numbers through the first month of 2012 look far more like those 8 seasons than like last year. And it makes me think you're just trolling Sox fans, because it's such a nonsensical position and I know you're not dumb.

be honest, you really don't know that

That's total HR's hit. By both teams in each stadium.

Besides, is Texas' lineup traditionally filled with singles hitters?

Right, but it's clearly skewed by the players that play 81 games in each park. I doubt Texas' line-up is traditionally filled with singles hitters, but the White Sox were one of the best power-hitting teams in several of the years you cited and I don't believe it was because of their park.

I think it is the widely held belief that the Cell is one of the most HR friendly parks in the majors - especially after they lopped off the 10k seats from the top and it lowered the roof.

Sox Team HR Rank

2005: 5th 200(115 Home, 85 Road)
2006: 1st 236(136 Home, 100 Road)
2007: 6th 190(110 Home, 80 Road)

2011: 15th 154(86 Home, 68 Road)

Seems like even when the Sox weren't a prolific HR hitting team the Cell was still HR friendly.

I'm not saying U.S. Cellular isn't hitter-friendly. It just isn't close to the Ballpark at Arlington or whatever it's called these days, which is the biggest hitter's advantage in baseball.

So what are you basing this on? From the link posted about it seems the cell is pretty close to the one in Texas.

But that isnt true, it is one of the most hitter friendly but the stats dont back up your claim. The Cell is obviously close. They were both top 5 last season and the Sox were higher in 2010.

We're both drawing a whole bunch of conclusions from the evidence. It's not exactly scientific when there are so many variables involved.
