Ugh. Greatest closer ever without question. This should probably be the end, and I fear it will lead to another awkward finish for a legendary player. So much fun to watch. One of the greatest I've watched live.

of all years for marmol to start out like shit - good teams all over needing bullpen help and he drives his value down with each shitty performance. the cubs really needed him to start out strong this year and they could have cashed in bigtime.

They have three guys that could probably top Marmol, but Larry could be our only hope.

Maybe Rothschild will want Marmol for cheap, but I doubt it.

So you seriously think the YANKEES are going to go from the best closer even, to a guy who can't even keep the job on a 68 win Cubs team?

Had his best years under Rothschild, not that far-fetched. Of course what the Yankees would be willing to give up for him besides some base line chalk would be another story.

Guarantee they will explore Marmol. When you lose a closer, there aren't many available options. They'll definitely talk to the Cubs.

And Marmol will go there and be the best closer in the league.

Just to piss everyone off.

Kind of a freak accident. Still can't figure out why he is out there shagging flies. Doubt anyone will touch
his postseason saves record in our lifetime. Pretty amazing to get by with one really good pitch for so long.
From all I have read just a class act and while I thought he would be done this year anyway, didn't want to
see him go out this way. I hate the Yankees but it is hard to hate this guy.

Not for a closer they won't. The Yanks have 2 better options (Robertson & Soriano) than Marmol in their pen right now. Maybe they will inquire about Marmol, but he will not be a closer if he goes to NY.

From my perspective, don't care if he plays first base. But they will talk, which is what is most important.

I honestly don't think Marmol could lower his "value" any further at this point. Throw in the NL to AL upgrade and i can't imagine why NY would want him on their 25 man roster for any reason.

marmol has no value...this slide started last year and has continued to snowball...loss of velocity and late movement and he is pressing now and can't locate .. only way the cubs move him is if they eat most of that salary.

Rivera's a really good centerfielder. He's been showing off in CF during BP for his entire career.

I heard that this morning. Serves him right then.

It's very unfortunate that MLB's best closer in our lifetime would not only end his season, but possibly his Hall of Fame career as well shagging flies before a Yankees/Royals' game. I'm not a Yankee fan by any stretch, but what Mariano Rivera did in his career was as good as it got.

I'm surprised SHARK isn't ranting about how he is wearing a certain balck pioneer's number...
