Since I am not going to bother listening to your interview, I decided to look into Mel Daniels' idea that some of the white players he drafted while player personal of the Pacers might have actually been good. Combined between all of them, they have 1 Allstar game appearance, and many flops.

These are all of Mel Daniels white draft picks from 1986 to 2009, the years that he was in charge of the Pacers' drafts. In years where there were more than 2 rounds, I have only included white draft picks picked up in those rounds because none of those guys have Wikipedia pages, so I am guessing they sucked and didn't have an NBA career. Forgive me if I am wrong.

1986-Greg Dreiling (2.1 points per game, 10 year NBA career)
1988-Rik Smits (2nd overall, 12 year NBA career, 1 time NBA Allstar)
1992-Scott Haskin (14th overall, 1 NBA season, 2.0 points per game)
1994-Damon Bailey (played 0 NBA games)
1995-Eric Piatkowski (15th overall; averaged 7.5 points per game)
1997-Mark Pope (averaged 1.9 points per game)
1998-Austin Croshere (drafted 12th overall, averaged 6.8 points per game)
2000-Primož Brezec (averaged 7.2 points per game and 3.9 rebounds; currently playing for BC Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. Last played in NBA in 20)
2004-Erazem Lorbek (never played in the NBA, currently playing for FC Barcelona)
2009-Tyler Hansbrough (13th overall, currently sitting on bench)

I am a complete NBA idiot; however, this looks like a bad list.

Rik Smits is the only good player on that list. And its pretty hard to miss with a 7'4" giant.

i don't disagree with not wanting to draft white players ...most are not good...love and dirk are rare ...more are like adam morrison and eric montross than dirk/love.
