There's a few pitchers in the league that makes me harken back to my baseball days of yore and make me think that I wouldn't be afraid to step in against them and try my luck. Soft tossers like Moyer or Buehrle come to mind ( though they would make me look foolish I have no doubt). Watching Masterson pitch with all that body coming at you then the 3/4 delivery uncorking 95 plus, Id have my ass so far in the bucket Id be facing the Sox dugout when I started to swing. He looks like he'd be absolutely no fun to hit against.

John Danks is singlehandedly killing this team.

5 runs should be enough to beat the tribe. Fuck you, Danks. You've had your head up your ass for the better part of 2.5 seasons now. I loved Danks when they made that trade...even when he was getting his brains beat in during the 2007 season. He showed some real good signs in 2008. And since....not much. Started 0-8 last year, has an ERA over 6 this year, not helping the team at all. He used to be my favorite pitcher, now I dread when he starts. I just hope he isn't starting on the 12th when I'm at the Sox game.

Danks isn't sharp right now. He'll get "good" again. My problem is that even when he is good, he seems to get beat an inordinate amount of the time. Instead of losing 7-5, he'll lose 3-2. It seems to be a mental thing with him. It isn't that he lacks the stuff to get guys out. Last night after getting behind 3-0 early his team put him back in the game. They scored making it only a one run deficit. He comes right back out and deepens the hole by allowing a home run.

I realize it isn't popular to look at each game as an individual event in this era of advanced statistics. But the game as it occurs is important. You might shoot a 72 at Whistling Straits on the same day Tiger Woods shoots a 74, but if you're playing the course together in the same foursome, you're not going to beat him. Baffert might be unable to get Bodemeister to work a mile and a quarter in 2:01 by himself, but when that's what he needs to beat Union Rags, he'll give it to you. Pitchers pitch the games they're in. They're not automatons programmed to produce a specified ERA.

It is a sad day when Gavin Floyd comes off my most hated Sox pitcher list and is replaced by Danks.
Peavy, Sale and Floyd have been ballin' recently, but Danks has not earned .01 of his new paper.

No high school or college pitcher throws 200 innings and I doubt any minor league pitcher does either. They build themselves up to that number and that's what Sale is doing now. He's only 23 years old.

So what did you mean by you are sure it's news to him?

Like I said, he's going to be expected to pitch more this season than he has his entire professional career... we'll see how he does after throwing 170 innings. Yeah, I like his numbers now. Damn fine numbers. But his size and durability are questionable in my opinion. Just my thought process. I was very concerned about the starting rotation because Peavy is ouchy and Sale never came close to that kind of work load ever, and your 200 inning horse is gone now... we'll see.

Soooo.... Yeah.

You said he was never expected to throw 200 innings 'in his life'. A starting college pitcher drafted 13th overall is expected to throw 200 innings a year. It won't be this year but it will be in the next couple years.

Soooo......yeah.
