I think Hamels is ok with how everything turned out.

Then he's a dumbass. Just because the team managed to win despite his idiocy, doesnt excuse it.

Unless I missed something in the 8 total days he's been in the big leagues, I cannot figure out why Hamels did what he did?
He hit a 19 year old with a fastball the first time he batted against him. Did Harper do something wrong in the first 2 games of the series?

Yeah I wondered that as well. Only thing I can figure is he did it because the hype surrounding the kid.

Love Harpers response to it.

Every player that comes over from Japan, Cuba, etc should get drilled too. They're super-hyped also.

Hamels is an idiot. The Nats GM is pissed too. I'll be watching the next time they play (especially if Hamels is scheduled).

Yeah I am liking this National team more and more. Should be fun to watch over the next few years.

If Strasburg & 3B Zimmerman can stay healthy, and they can get better #'s out of Werth, they could be scary good. They have an awesome starting rotation. I know Edwin Jackson has bounced around a lot, but there are a chunk of teams he would be a #1 or #2 on; he is their #4.

Yeah that is a good point about Jackson. He is one of the best #4 pitchers in the league.

It is just good to see a team like this come together with so many of their young players. I have always had hopes that the Royals could do this with their stacked minors, but so far no go. Although I think Hosmer is the real deal.

KC has no pitching. Hosmer, Gordon, and Moustakas will have some very good careers I think, but they have nobody to throw the ball. The Nats have a ton of arms in the rotation and the pen.

I wouldn't say they have no pitching, it just hasn't developed to this point. They have some good arms in the system and if they ever develop they will be a contender.

Xactly. I guess from now on anytime a hot prospect steps in against judge, jury, and executioner Cole Hamels they should expect one between the shoulder blades. I could maybe see if Harper had maybe breached some protocol that a veteran pitcher might take exception to it and try to send a message but so far the kid hasn't done anything but play hard nosed baseball. At least Hamels had to answer for it when he stepped in the box.

I think people extend these windows of young teams out too far sometimes.

I think the Nats best chance at a WS might be next year.

A lot of guys should be in the middle of their prime with a lot of the young guys rounding into form

I dont trust LaRoche. If they get another slugger at First base, they might be the class of the NL by next year.

They are doing this with R. Zimmerman hurt and Drew Storen out.

Really good relief pitching as well. I think their starters are pitching a little abover their heads but the relievers are legit.

They still have holes in their lineup.

Agreed, and thats without Storen.

If Zimmerman is there, and Harper progresses, you add a power hitting OF or 1B to that lineup and they are ready to compete.

Actually, you know who might put them over the top? Adam Dunn (If he could play a decent 1b)

I wouldn't expect much out of Werth as he is out until August after surgery earlier today to repair his broken wrist.

Right RFDC. Morse, too.

They might go to the postseason this year

And 312 player correct too. Gotta have some underpaid young guys to win.
