Awesome! Coached several Tball teams, lots of fun.

You got the kid on your team that sits in the field and plays in the dirt?

I coached T-ball, little league, & Football for about 10 years. I miss it.

The best part though was the hot Moms.

They didn't have T-Ball when I was a kid, so how could I coach it?

T-Ball coaching is babysitting. The first few years of kid pitching is much more enjoyable. You get to coach. The kids can someone implement what they learn. They get better. There is nothing more enjoyable than experiencing the joy of the worst kid on the team getting a hit against live pitching and his teammates cheering for him. There is complete pride that probably won't be matched in athletic pursuits for most of the rest of his life.

I went to my little league coach's funeral during the winter. The other coach I see frequently and we still share good memories.

I love coaching, but it is one of the most thankless things you will ever do. Have fun, the kids are great, the parents suck.

I have coached both tball and kid pitching age groups and I have enjoyed both of them. They each are fun for different reasons.

Last year in our 9-10yr old softball season one of the 9 yr old girls who could not hit anything at the beginning of the year got the winning hit in our season ending tournament. I will never forget the smile on her face.

The bad part of moving up in age groups is you run into the kids that do not want anything to do with being there but their parents are forcing them. Got our girl on our team this year that wants nothing to do with it and took a ball in the mouth last practice. Curious to see if she is back at practice tonight.

Coached both my sons in "Instructional league". 3 chances to hit from a machine, then to the tee if unsuccessful. We had fun, I always worried about the ones unable to pay attention for ten minutes getting drilled by a hot shot, but no one ever did. Baseball is still my oldest son's favorite sport to play, although this year, not as much fun..

Hopefully someone else understands why I'm laughing at this and it's not at the poor kid.

this is my first year coaching 11-12 year olds. it took me exactly 1 inning of the first game to be called a motherfucker in front of parents and kids and have a grandparent take his kid out of the dugout and take him home due to lack of playing time. the boy hadnt been to a practice in over 2 weeks, and due to the team having 11 players, he was one of the 2 kids on the bench to start game 1. We told him and his mother that he had to sit this one out, but if he made practice sunday he would play in our next game. she dissolved into tears. in the first inning gramps came over and confronted our coaching staff, stormed off with the kid and confronted the league commish and other league officials where he went on a rampage of cursing and swearing in front of the snack bar, was asked to leave the premises, refused, had the cops called on him and from what i understand had a restraining order filed against him from showing up to any games or be arrested and removed.

all because we had the nerve to ask the players to practice in order to play. game one, inning one. gonna be a fun year!

I coached soccer and basketball for about 12 years. (Coached HS Park District Basketball)
I loved it and really looked forward to it every week. I coached two soccer teams (My son's and daughters) during the same seasons. My wife and I had a lot of fun. Of course there were some parents who I rubbed the wrong way,but not too many. You are always going to run into that. Good Luck!

I've coached the same group of kids for about 5 years. The league has a draft each year. We purposely draft the same players year after year outside of their expected slots because they all seem to have developed into friends. The parents know what to expect and what is expected. We tell them at the end of each year to tell us if they would not want to be drafted without any hard feelings.

I coached every level of Baseball from T-ball to Travel leagues and without a doubt T-ball was the worst. There are always a few kids on every team at that level, that were never taught to catch and throw the ball properly, much less hit it. The parents expect the coaches to help lil Johnny to be just as good as the kids who's Fathers had been playing catch with them for years, and do it in a few weeks. They can't understand why their kid doesn't want to play when he sucks.... he was set up to suck by parents that didn't work with him. Yeah, it's gratifying when you help some kids to dramatically improve and they become much better during the season, but it was a hell of a lot more fun as the years went on and the weak players were eliminated and you had kids that at least had basic skills with which to work. The kids are cute and it's exciting to see them play in real games for the first time, but it gets a lot better as the years go by.

Okay, now we're cooking with gas. We've gone from tee ball to Mein Kampf.

dolphin is right, its is mostly babysitting for these ages.

I could see how the older kids would be more rewarding, but on the other hand, I like this level because its virtually impossible for a parent to be a jackass with all the rules set up.

I mean, right now, its all about the kids learning to be on a team, learnin to practice, try and get better.

There are no expectations for the psycho parents to be upset about

I dont think I could deal with even one crazy parent.

Mofo, I laughed like Panther did at that second line, but at the same time, thats fucking ridiculous. I couldnt deal with that even once, much less over years.

My daughter likes playing, but its the social aspect and playing with other kids she likes, not sure she has a love of the game. I think she's gonna be more into traditional girls type stuff like ballet as she gets older, so my coaching career might not be that long.

Ive gained a ton of respect for anyone who volunteers. It seems like not that big of deal when you just say "Its like an hour, hour and a half a couple times a week" when you put that into practice that is a metric shitload of time to give.

I thought the same thing with my oldest daughter after she proclaimed following her 2nd tball game that she hated it because she had to sweat too much. Then somewhere in the next year she started loving all sports and has not looked back since. So you never know...
