Its because terry said if the olympics were in his backyard, he'd close the blinds.

Don't get me wrong, but I would too...of course, the way my backyard is set up, it would probably be the equestrian competition.

No SHARK, but I didn't feel like getting a pencil, nor do I have scorecards.

I think you need to open your heart and broaden your horizons to things like the Olympics, and stop watching WCIU...that shit will rot yoUr brain.

I thought it was odd that someone who is as big of an NBA fan as Bernsie says he is doesn't know if he has the NBA TV channel or not.

Well, you know, when DirecTV hits an impasse with another one of their thousandsome channels every day, it does get hard to know what you do and don't have.

Why didn't Bernstein just go to law school or medical school, so he doesn't have to pretend to know what he's talking about?

Bernstein should have gone to television school too, because this is a pretty simple point that the producer is making.

Could you please tell me what I missed? Law, medicine, and broadcasting?

The law thing was about the Sandusky case, which makes it double the fun. He got to throw in some Mann Act stuff there so great times. Bernstein seems to be under the impression that Sandusky is some beloved figure in Central Pennsylvania and so the jury pool is going to be skewed pro-child rape. I guess that won't be a problem in federal court though.

The broadcasting thing was the talk about how NBA was covering the game but that they were blacking it out in Chicago because they don't want to cannibalize the market. An entirely reasonable point, except that Bernstein had an ICP "blackouts, how do they work?" moment, then quickly dropped the subject.

Medicine is just extrapolation on my part.

This is one of the dumber stances they ever have. Sandusky being found innocent does nothing for Paterno's legacy because the standard response is that Paterno did what was legally required of him(true) and that he should have let his superiors handle it(legally true, morally false). In fact, most in Pennsylvania actually blame Sandusky for destroying Paterno's legacy and would love for him to spend the rest of his life in jail in retribution. They also would love to see the administration that did fail Paterno go down. If the administration did what they were legally required to do, then Paterno does not have his legacy tarnished and Sandusky goes to jail after the first or second allegation.

Keep in mind I was speaking for Paterno defenders and not myself. Personally, I think Paterno got exactly what he deserved in his legacy being destroyed by this and he should always be viewed in a negative light for his failure of leadership.

I always got a vibe that Dan was expected to become a lawyer/doctor by his family, more specifically his father. Or at least be involved in a career with some merit. The guy comes from money in the north burbs, goes to Duke, and now intentionally antagonizes people on the radio for 5 hours a day. Let's face it, sports radio contributes absolutely nothing worthwhile to society. He's not helping anyone or defending the rights of the meek. If anything, he contributes negatively to society by pissing people off on a daily basis. That's why Dan feels the need to go beyond sports when he shoves CTE/head injuries or the Sandusky case down our ears. He wants to appear to be an investigative journalist with integrity.

I understand that Dan's dad is an attorney of considerable repute, but I don't think Deerfield is "money" the way, say, Lake Forest or Highland Park or Winnetka is. It's obviously a very pleasant, affluent suburb, and I'm sure the public schools are great, but a mere mention of its name doesn't elicit hushed gasps and conjure up visions of brick mansions while Pachelbel's Canon plays. It's Northbrook with lower sales taxes, really.

I mean, unless "comes from money in the north burbs" is a euphemism for "he's Jewish," in which case yes, he is, but that's not germane.

JORR, can you rank the North Shore communities by prestige? First, let me try:

Lake Forest
Kenilworth
Wilmette
Winnetka
Highland Park
Evanston (the good part)
Glencoe
Deerfield
Riverwoods
Northfield
Lake Bluff
Northbrook
Glenview
Evanston (the bad part)
Mokena
Kansas City, Kansas
The Moon
Parts Unknown
Highwood

Well, I think it probably depends on if you're Jewish or not, but I'd rank them like this:

Kenilworth
Lake Forest
Highland Park
Winnetka
Glencoe
Wilmette
North Evanston
Lake Bluff
Highwood
South Evanston

Those others aren't on any shore so I don't consider them. Glenview is more like Park Ridge than the North Shore. Deerfield is a step up from Buffalo Grove.
