Creepy OKC white people now color-coding. Next game, they'll be dressed like the Heaven's Gate cult, waiting for the Hale-Bopp comet.

Does Dan realize that all NBA crowds are mostly composed of white people? "White" couldn't be more redundant in this sentence.

Ok, Dan. We get it. You don't like white people. You don't like Oklahoma. Have a thought. Say something.

The whole "college v. pro" thing in the south exists, yes. They covet amateur sports, so what's your point?

Ask even these rural, OK gomers about #NBA v. college right now. Stop that damn debate.
I guarantee you that anywhere in the state of Oklahoma college would win that poll and they'd trade an NBA title for an NCAA basketball title.

It just so happens that the Thunder are elite right now and Oklahoma basketball isn't.

I'm not sure about this. OKC is well known around the NBA for having one of the best home crowds in the league and when New Orleans played there during Katrina the fans were so supportive that there were many players and commentators suggesting that the team should permanently move there. And the Hornets weren't great at the time. The Thunder werent great a few years ago when they were the 8 seed and the home crowd looks the exact same as it does now that they are a 2 seed. OKC does very well for a small market. All evidence seems to suggest OKC fans love their NBA basketball.

I think they'd rather have another NCAA football championship over anything but I'm pretty sure they'd take an NBA title over a college basketball one.

Those aren't mutually exclusive. I'm not saying the OKC fans aren't awesome. I wish more NBA crowds were like them including the Bulls. I'm just saying that when it comes down to it they still have a much bigger connection to the college team and would rather see them winning a title at the end of March than right now.

It has to do with the mentality of a college fan. There are two glory sports. An Oklahoma fan wants that team to get as much glory as possible.

OKC is a great distraction for them, but the fact that they are good now doesn't erase the decades of Oklahoma as the dominant sports force in the state.

I guess im just hung up on the college basketball idea. Do the Sooners even have a basketball tradition, let alone a rich one? I just don't see them viewing winning a college basketball championship as anything other than a cool bonus to their already storied football program.

But obviously I'm not really a big college fan. It's hard for me to view winning a championship on that level as equal to a pro one from a fan's perspective.

Well, football is king. Okalahoma basketball has had some good runs the past 10 years or so and has had some good success since the 80s.

However, that's kind of irrelevant. A NCAA title immediately gives them a major basketball tradition and helps raise the status of the universities athletic program. The "cool bonus" to the football program is actually quite accurate, but it's why they'd rather have the Sooners win a title vs. OKC. You see the same stuff at Ohio State vs. the Cavs, and definitely in Indianapolis with the Hoosiers vs. the Pacers.

One other thing. A Sooners basketball title would be a great piece in the Oklahoma/Texas rivalry. A Thunder title doesn't translate as well.

That's probably true. But like you said, the two aren't mutually exclusive. I view the pro vs college sports debate similarly to how Dan does. That's why it surprises me that he paints OKC fans as some type of hillbilly college fan that is just now discovering the greatness of professional sports. It's been well known for years now around NBA circles how great OKC's crowds are. He knows better(or should, anyway) and is still trying to bait dumb people, carrying his radio shtick to Twitter. I just don't see the point.

It's been 4 years since Kobe Bryant hit a game winning shot in the playoffs according to J.A. Adande.

According to M&M Kobe is 0-7 since 2006 in the playoffs in the 4th quarter with less than 10 seconds and taking a shot to win or tie the game. His teammates are 4-7 collectively in the same situation since 2006.

I just heard Doug Collins post game comments from last night. Very strange. I guess he was trying to get Boston comfortable and get them overlooking Philly. He pretty much said he thinks the reason Boston played so well is because they saw Bosh go down and Miami/Indy tighten up and now feel they have an open door to win the conference. While all that may be true, I can't recall ever hearing a coach talk about an opposing team as if them moving on was just a formality.

Bulls fans who were interested in possibly trading for Pau Gasol earlier this season should pay close attention to how he has played this year in the playoffs. He is doing his best Carlos Boozer impression 98% of the time.

Why would Gasol being yelling at Noah during his playoff games?

I just think he still hates Kobe and doesn't like his coach. I consider it sulking more than anything.

Pau is one of those talented players who won't give you 100% unless he's completely comfortable/happy where he is. His ability hasn't dipped since his first 3 years in L.A., but now he feels his championship window closing. I wonder what it would take to get him on the Mavs.

Pau Gasol is a lot like LeBron James. He's got all the talent in the world, but he just doesn't always bring it when the game is on the line.

George Hill is a lot like Nazr Mohammad. He plays on an NBA team, but just doesn't know how to fly an airplane.

Show of hands.....

Who here isn't comfortable with Nazr Mohammad knowing how to fly an airplane?
