Hey, wasn't Ernie broke just a few years ago? He might have recovered and done enough card shows to be stable but he can't be that great financially.

I heard statue's cost like 250k. Why don't you take the money you need to get the statue and just give it to Ernie. I think he'd like it better and would rather live his last 10 years in comfort then look at a statue of himself. I'm serious.

I don't know about that. He is a Hall of Famer and the face of the franchise. Everyone in Wrigleyville knows who he is. Yet he insists on wearing some cheap looking hat with his name on it wherever he goes. I think he likes the attention...and the Cubs gave him a job so he should have enough money to live on.
