Meh - used to be a fan of his but think all of the changes at GN hurt his style.

Personally, I wish Dan Azzaro would come back to the Score.

I liked Nick D years ago, but sorta moved on because he didn't and doesn't. One time he spent an entire hour freaking out over Radio Shack and Pizza Hut exploring name changes to "The Shack" and "The Hut." Wouldn't shut up!

Everyone on the media boards used to howl for him to get a real daypart but I think that time has come and gone and besides he's best as a late-night guy anyway.

I'm with CH. The guy has never progressed. He reminds me of Kevin Matthews where you can go away for 6 months to a year and come back and he could be talking about the same stupid stuff.

The worst part is when he is pimping out his theater hobby.

It's audiobook time on the weekends when Nick is on the air.

I think I liked Nick's shows the most back around, oh, 2003 through 2006. I think I got into Wilco by way of his show. Felt like pretty cool radio then, but like everyone else is concurring, he's since stalled out. Oh well. Maybe you can only do weekend overnights so long.

I like Nick D. He has a certain charm to him. I would much rather listen to him than any of your producer hosts on the Score (LoHo, Abbatacola, Joe O, McKnight, Goff, etc.). He has interesting guests sometimes. Also he has that Drunks in the News bit that is kind of funny. His show was better before with the other producer. In the last 3 or 4 years there has been a lot of transition at WGN. The program director over there has shuffled the shows around a lot and a handful of hosts have left. So Nick is kind of left somewhere in the mix.

If he's still talking about Gilmore Girls five years after it ended production, there is a problem.

You could say the same thing about sports talk hosts. Some of them rarely have an original thought or interesting show idea.

He is the only host who makes WGN listenable for me. He had a great show with Tony Fitzpatrick last week

Because I'm never up that late, I love listening to the Midnight Movie Reviews podcast. Good stuff. I also enjoy his TV guests: the Futon Critic, Dan or Alan from HitFix.com to name 2.

I agree with those who have commented on his stammering. Really annoying. And he always calls male guests "man." It's a weird affectation.

Still an enjoyable show overall.

Sums up my thoughts. At times I like his show and topics are entertaining.

Regarding the use of "man". I noticed he does it a lot more when he has male celebrities on.

I've never listened to Nick. But, it would seem to me if he used "man" when he had female celebrities, it would be sorta weird.

Regarding the use of "man". I noticed he does it a lot more when he has male celebrities on. As if that makes him sound cooler or something. Every other word out of his mouth when he interviewed Piven was "man". Same with some other male celeb whose name escapes me.

I like the segments with the food writer Monica Eng. But at times Nick would get creepy with her, intro'ing her as "the lovely Monica Eng" and just general creepy vibe.

Great call on Monica Eng. and it is weird how he always refers to her as lovely or attractive. Nice catch.

When did he have Piven on? Anytime Piven's name comes up, Nick comes across as very jealous. It goes beyond the stories about what a prick Piven is. Because they're both from Chicago, Nick makes it seem like Piven got the lucky break he should have gotten.

This guy has been around for awhile. Back in 1998-99,the two guys I worked the nightshift with turned on his show. We were all excited thinking we found "a guy" that would help keep us awake during our shift. After a few days,we decided he has great subject material but never follows it up with anything interesting to say. The running joke after that was "hey,It's time for Nick Digilio" and we all would laugh.

I used to listen to Nick every weekend from around 2002-2005.
Kinda forgot about him.
That being said, the Tribune website is absolutely fucking useless.
Almost every story I want to read has that damned blue + sign next to it........
If I wanted to pay for the content, I'd buy the paper.
Alas and alack.

Monica Eng is pretty cute.

Her mother dated Roger Ebert for a long time. I'm sure Roger had a big influence on her.

was nick the guy that would do the movies on late saturday nights? i remember a short period of my life where i'd try to go out of my way to catch that hour of radio, but that was about the extent of my exposure to WGN outside of trying to see how long i could last with milt rosenberg every now and then. a 90yr old vagina stranded out in a desert for a week had nothing on good ol milt in terms of "dryness"

The way I do it is to let the paywall hit, then edit the URL to only what's between the last two / characters, then hit return and Google searches it for me.
