Terry is away all this week on "The Boers & Bernstein Show", so Jason Goff sits in today & tomorrow with Dan B. driving the sports talk between 1:15p-ish & 6p following the daily transition with Mac & Spiegs. Needless to say, the White Sox sweep over the Cubs will be a prime topic of conversation on this Boers-less radio program.

What does a White Sox sweep of the Cubs really mean? Does it really mean the Sox are better at baseball than the Cubs? Is Adam Dunn, dare might I ask, an American League All-Star after 2 monster homers over the weekend to up his total now to 14? Can the White Sox starting trio of Philip Humber, John Danks & Jake Peavy hold up over the long haul? Are LF Dayan Viciedo & 2B Gordon Beckham showing signs of life themselves after both guys also went yard over the weekend? Lastly, are the Cubs even worse at baseball after the Sox pitchers held the likes of SS Starlin Castro & 1B Bryan LaHair in check during the weekend series? Could both teams be sellers at the MLB Trade Deadline next month? We'll find out what Bernsy & Goff REALLY think of the Sox sweep and whether it means squat.

It won't be the only topic these 2 will discuss. Did the Pacers piss away their chance to upset the Heat with Miami's Game 4 road win yesterday in their Eastern Conference Semifinal series in Indianapolis? Why is the 76ers/Celtics' series now a best 2 out of 3 after Philadelphia's Game 4 win Friday night on their home floor with Game 5 tonight in Boston? Are the Spurs the team to beat after eliminating Vinny's Clippers 4 and out in the Western Conference Semis late last night in Los Angeles? Are the Thunder thisclose to sending Kobe's Lakers to the golf course as soon as tonight's Game 5? You can bet there will be NBA Playoff talk, even if the Bulls are relegated to watching these games like you & me on TV.

Might the guys also talk a little more about the controversy regarding the Ricketts family, a rumored smear campaign involving President Obama's re-election bid that has Mayor Rahm Emanuel absolutely livid & the Cubs' plans for renovating Wrigley Field? I know that Bernsy was talking about a little bit in the hour he had after Game 1 of the White Sox/Cubs' series Friday flying solo, but he also wrote the following column along those lines. You can read all about that here:

It means that the Sox won 3 games.

These previews are getting longer and full of even more empty rhetoric.

I stopped reading them. Now I just answer the question in the subject line, because I'm certain SHARK won't answer it in his narrative.

That had to have taken a long, long time.

Without knowing who else is up against him, Dunn better be an all-star.

Nothing. The Sox are an American League team that happens to play in the same city as the Cubs. A 3 game sweep by any National League team would be much worse. The Crosstown Classic is beyond lame at this point. It was fun at first but how many gay/white trash jokes can the two fan bases keep making.

This series is only fun for Frank and Big Fan because they can go see their favorite teams play without having to feel like they are breaking kayfabe.

Might the guys also talk a little more about the controversy regarding the Ricketts family....................
The answer is NO.

Dan will not talk about this a little. He'll make you long for some Penn State or Tebow talk.
Some of his Tweets on this had me thinking a drunken Joe Cowley was faking some outrage for Dan.

This "Liberal" seems to hate many of things Obama supports so I think this is more about chumming the waters for meatballs than a strong political stance.
Hopefully most callers don't take the bait but I doubt it PTB.

Well, lots of leftists hate things Obama supports because Obama represents a Democratic Party whose tent is so big that it even has room for The One Percent, but yeah, the liberalism Dan shares on the show doesn't often go far beyond "I like Obama."

The small amount of politics that seeps into the show from Bernsie was the thing that annoyed me more than anything. I hate that voice he uses when he says something, "They're taking away our freedoms". Religion and politics are two very tough things to discuss because you generally have half your audience pissed at you when you take a side. I shouldn't have taken the show as serious as I did, but it was just a gut emotion.

Yeah I voted for Ron Paul. :)

Well, yeah, the Tea Party is easy meat because they're weird and dumb and astroturfy. What I find annoying, as I've articulated several times, is his unusual fusion of contempt for the right wing with that very contingent's same flippant dismissal of middle-class erosion. "Julian Green should quit the Cubs in disgust and Rahm should be happy to banish the Rickettses to Arlington Heights/Nebraska/3rd circle of hell" doesn't jibe with "just go get a better job if you can't afford things."

But it's all probably just a character for the radio so whatever. But even that distinct possibility is fraught with a lot of ugly stuff that's best not plumbed.

How about that time he was using that logic for people who lived in Englewood or some place like that where everyone is getting shot? He was shocked that people wouldn't just move away. I think he shows the Elitism of some on the left in that they have no idea how the other half lives ala Hollywood types.

His column rubbed me the wrong way. I really don't care what Rickett's dad does. If he screws their stadium money that is their problem. You do what you want and if there is a price to pay you pay it. Also, nice of him to out Rickett's daughter/sister.

Right, but pittmike was implying that Dan's column somehow broke the news that she's gay. She's been openly gay for years. People talked about it when the family bought the team.
