Random Bears though (more WSCR Host related): While everyone agrees that the Bears 1st round pick, Shea McClellin, needs to make an impact in his rookie season, expecting 9-12 sacks (as Jason Goff said) or else being let down is a pretty ridiculous position to take. Yes, McClellin appears to be more of a pass rusher at this point, and he plays opposite Julius Peppers, but most stars in the NFL don't do what Goff have suggested needs to happen to avoid him calling McClellin disapointing.

I'd be happy if McClellin had 5-7 sacks in his rookie season. I think that's actally realistic.

I used Goff as my example from a statement he made filling in for Boers this week. Bernstein didn't argue with it, and other hosts/analysts, while not giving a number of sacks, seem to have unrealistic expectations for what a bust vs. realistic performance is.

I heard that as well BD and thought the same thing. As a point of reference, in 2011, only 8 players had 12 sacks or more.

Jared Allen 22
D Ware 19.5
Babin 18
JPP 16.5
Sugs 14
Aldon Smith 14
Chris Long 13
Tamba Hali 12


There were only 25 players with 9 sacks or more.

9-12 sacks for Shea would be a phenomenal rookie season.

7 sacks would be great. I am more interested to see if he can be an every down DE rather than just a pass rusher.
