That's a big problem around here where guys will take a tiny part of what somebody said and run with it, while inciting other posters to join in.

Reminds me of when that other guy created a Hub DBOTW thread and claimed that Hub said Muhammad Ali was the greatest athlete of all time. Others joined in the bashing until I and a couple of others pointed out that Hub said something different.

Being wrong about specifics is what I'm against, not the inherent Bernstein-bashing itself. Just get it right and be fair. That's all I ask.

But when you tell the whole story, where Dan said that with an unlimited number of swings in a batting cage it's just a matter of timing, the story isn't nearly as ludicrous.

I heard the whole thing and found it hard to believe. I say that in all honesty not knowing what kind
of athlete Bernsy is. It obviously isn't impossible but I wish I could see some evidence of it. Once
they started talking about Campana being able to do it, and then Len Kasper said he could back in
the day, it reminded me of an elementary kid stretching the truth a little bit so he wasn't left out.
He got really excited and giddy about telling his story, just how it came off to me.

Now if it were Laurence saying these things, I'd support the uproar because he is known for putting on a song and dance to get people to like him. Laurence by far has more of the "look what I can do" complex than anybody on that station. Bernstein doesn't really have that. Only people with low confidence/self esteem need to do that, which I'm convinced is the case with Laurence.

I think that makes it worse. Those shoes aren't turning a 5'8.645 guy into a guy with a 30+ inch vertical in a few weeks. If it did, then every high school in the country would have their entire team walking around in them.

I don't doubt that he used the shoes and all that. He has no reason to make any of that up. No one can
prove he actually put one down. I realize he has no reason to lie and make up a huge story about it. I
