10 foot hoop = 120 inches
5'6" = 66"
wing span for 1 arm equals half body length = 33"
less head = -10" or so?
total body length = 89
120" - 89" = 31"

The other thing is the ability to jump and hold a tennis ball at the highest point of a jump is an athletic feat, but not a great one. The ability to time the foot movement, hand eye coordination, arm strength to hit a baseball is somewhat different. I think it can be done if you spend hours of time at it, and aren't concerned about the occasional high and tight pitch.
You were probably too generous on his arm length. Your arm won't be half of your height. It will be half your height - half of your chest width.

We'd be looking at a 35 inch vertical for Bernstein to do that. I'm skeptical.

Your numbers are off.

Im 5"6 (which is Bernstein's actual height) When I stand straight up and raise my arm directly up it reaches 80 inches.

40 inch vertical to even get my fingertips on the rim

Add Bernstein's fictional 2.5 inches and another 1.5 on the arm (assuming he's long armed) and your are still talking a 36 inch leap to just touch the rim.

If Bernstein could do it, he was jumping at least 37-38 inches (in reality 40)

Thats some hops,

Remember, he's shorter than Spud Webb

Awesome show today, I liked it a lot.

Bernsie is the best. 5' 6" and he can dunk? Wow, those shoes must be patented secret invention that only he had access too! You can bet he made them in the lab in his basement, he is so smart and trained at Duke. A very sharp mind, indeed! Could you imagine what an NBA player could do on the court if he went to Duke AND wore those secret shoes? I bet he could do a radio show as well as have a 70 inch vertical! Could you believe that!? WOW.

And Knox? He's a nice kid.

Typical Larry faggotry .... however, I'm of the opinion that whosits that was on the phone calling him Larry was trying to say that he and Larry are close - as in friends - ergo him being able to call him Larry .... which only makes Larry's impotent flailing that much richer to poke fun at, I think.

I find Larry absolutely loathsome, but his Thursday sit-ins make for some great hate-listening. You get Defensive Larry with his Abe-Simpson-at-Krusty-Burger flouting of the "just sit back and take it" rule. You get Smarter Than You Larry cutting off every setup with his raucous "HAHAHA YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO FINISH THE CRAP, BECAUSE I ALREADY GET THE JOKE, BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD OF THAT PERSON, PLACE, OR THING HAHAHA" laugh. And to top it all off, No, Seriously, I'm One Of The Cool Kids Larry closes things out with his unsolicited appropriation of the Manometer.

This bernstein stuff is priceless. What sports did he play in high school? Because it sounds as if he was among the most athletic guys in Deerfield. He just happened to be a little undersized. Anyone who could really believe this is out of his mind.

He mocks callers with much more realistic sports resumes with regularity. Hell, he wouldn't even let the guy finish his story about getting dusted by Revie Sorey in raquetball and that was during his own Friday Fung segment on "ringers".

If bernstein ever touched a rim, he was on a ladder or it was one of those baskets where his mom adjusted the height.

Hey man, he played Club Baseball at Duke.

So, you know...

Actually, I don't know what that means. Is that one step above intramural and many steps below the actual Duke baseball team, or does Duke not have a baseball team and that was what they had instead?

It means he had a tryout with the Montreal Expos.

Bernstine is a great athlete and he could easily dunk on a 10 foot room, what is the matter with you? You just hate Bernstine and hate that he is right about everything he says. BernsTine can dunk a ton of stuff.

Think of the best athlete you grew up with or went to school with. Could he crack a 95 mph fastball? Did he have a 37" vertical? danny bernstein could and did.
